PokerStars on FanDuel joins the Alberta market.

PokerStars on FanDuel becomes the second regulated poker site to launch in the newly regulated market. For the time being, the platform caters only to the players from Alberta, with the Ontario player sharing a possibility down the line.

PokerStars on FanDuel is making its official comeback to Alberta.

The newly regulated market saw 888 jump in first, but PokerStars is poised to join the fray very soon. Players hoping to dust off their old PokerStars accounts will be disappointed: “Like in Ontario, players will need to create new accounts, and there will be no migration of old PokerStars accounts to the new platform.”

GGPoker pulls out of Alberta.

It cites its limited player pool as a reason, but so far remains in Ontario, which you would think would suffer from the same problems.

888 has become the first operator to launch regulated online poker in Alberta.

The new platform went live on October 13, offering the only licensed poker option for the province under Alberta’s new rules. With Alberta requiring a segregated player pool, most expected poker to be left out of the mix. Even PokerStars decided to bow out, leaving 888 to take the lead.
