Mississippi Gaming Committee Initiates Internet Gambling Study
After failed attempts to regulate online gambling in the previous two years, a comprehensive and unbiased study could move the debate forward.
- Mississippi House Gaming Committee Chairman Richard Bennett (R-Long Beach) has announced a task force to conduct a comprehensive study of internet gambling.
- The study will commence by looking at the experience in Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware. After requests from industry, the study will also examine sports betting.
- The task force report will be presented by the end of the year.
More Opposition to Efforts to Ban Online Gambling
Growing opposition could sound the death knell for Adelson’s dreams.
- The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) has expressed its strong opposition to the Adelson backed bills to amend the Wire Act in a letter to House and Senate leaders.
- The message from the NCSL to politicians urges lawmakers “to respect the sovereignty of states to decide whether or not to allow gambling, and in particular online gambling.”
Pocket Fives Expands New Jersey Community with WSOP Results Tracking
Players can see their New Jersey rankings as well as their global performance through their player profiles.
- New Jersey’s regulated market now has its own community on the PocketFives online poker forum.
- Partypoker and Borgata Poker tournament data was added first, and as of March 31, data has been available from the WSOP New Jersey tournaments.
