GGPoker continues to assert its dominance in the online poker world, securing the accolade of Best Poker Operator at the prestigious EGR Operator Awards 2025.
The leading online poker room once again bagged the Poker Operator of the Year title, marking its second consecutive year of winning this highly sought-after honor.
The EGR Operator Awards, often regarded as the “Oscars of the iGaming industry,” took place on October 22 at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
GGPoker triumphed over BetMGM Poker, a major operator in the regulated US online poker market, and Coolbet, a Scandinavian skin on the iPoker network operating actively in Finland, Estonia, and Norway.
Held annually, the EGR Awards serve as the benchmark for excellence in the online gaming industry, celebrating the achievements of leading operators and service providers across multiple verticals such as casino, poker, sportsbook, and affiliates.
The awards recognize innovation, excellence, and commitment to safer gambling, with each category having specific criteria that allow operators to showcase why they deserve to win. The voting process is overseen by Deloitte, ensuring transparency and fairness.
An impartial and external panel of judges evaluates the nominees, providing an unbiased assessment during the judging period spanning July 2024 to June 2025.
This year’s event featured 35 distinct award categories, recognizing excellence in areas such as Rising Star, Game of the Year, Crypto Operator, Affiliate of the Year, and the ultimate Operator of the Year. The awards encompassed all key segments of the gambling industry, including poker, casino, sports betting, lottery, and esports.
“GGPoker stands as the world’s largest and most innovative online poker operator, dominating the industry with unmatched growth, record-breaking tournament series, and a robust global player base,” noted the EGR jury. “In the past year, GGPoker’s World Festival awarded over $324 million in prizes with 5.6 million entries—far surpassing all competitors.”
GGPoker’s Continued Dominance
Indeed, GGPoker has surged far ahead of its rivals in terms of traffic, creating a considerable gap between itself and the rest of the industry. Since dethroning PokerStars about four years ago to become the world’s largest online poker room by cash game traffic, it has continued to expand relentlessly.
The operator has consistently broken records for the largest prize pools, the biggest tournament series, and total series payouts exceeding $300 million. In September 2025, GGPoker celebrated another major milestone on social media, with over half a million players logged in simultaneously.
This achievement reflects GGPoker’s exceptional growth trajectory. In 2018, the brand was still relatively under the radar, but by 2021, it had overtaken PokerStars to claim the global top spot. By late 2023, it became one of the few operators in history—alongside PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker—to surpass 10,000 concurrent cash game seats, eventually peaking at 12,000 in January 2024.
Although growth has stabilized over the past eighteen months, GGPoker continues to lead the industry in both traffic and innovation.
A key factor behind its success is its partnership with the World Series of Poker (WSOP) and its strategic expansion in markets where competitors have faced stricter regulatory barriers. Being privately owned allows GGPoker and its third-party partners to operate in key growth regions such as Asia and Russia, while publicly traded rivals like PokerStars, PartyPoker, and 888poker have withdrawn due to compliance challenges—giving GGPoker a big competitive edge.
Among its competitors, WPT Global ranks a distant second, followed by PokerStars in third place and the iPoker Network in fourth, though the gap between the latter two remains relatively close.
Historically, PokerStars has dominated the Poker Operator of the Year category, securing six titles since 2013, winning three consecutive years from 2014 to 2016, and again in 2020, 2021, and 2023. In 2023, GGPoker was shortlisted alongside Kindred’s Unibet and Novibet.
PartyPoker claimed the award three times between 2017 and 2019, while 888poker earned it in 2013 and 2022. GGPoker now joins this elite group, claiming victories in 2024 and 2025 and becoming the fourth poker operator to have won an award in this category since 2013.
