The wait is finally over as the World Poker Tour has come out with the dates for its marquee, season-ending event, the WPT World Championship.
While details remain scarce at this point in time, the company has revealed that the 2025 WPT World Championship festival will take place Dec 2 — 22, with Wynn Casino in Las Vegas once more playing the host.
For the time being, only two events have been officially announced: the $10,400 WPT World Championship and the $1,100 WPT Prime Championship. The full schedule for the December festival should be coming out in the next few weeks.
2025 WPT World Championship Highlights & Details
An official press release from the World Poker Tour on Thursday confirmed our expectations. The WPT World Championship festival is coming back in 2025, and it will be taking place during the last month of the year, running Dec 2 — 22.
This means that the Las Vegas festival will largely overlap with the 2025 WSOP Paradise, which takes place in The Bahamas during the same time window.

For now, there are very few details about the 2025 WPT World Championship schedule. The only two events that have been officially announced are the $10,400 Championship (Dec 13 — 19) and the $1,100 WPT Prime Championship (Dec 7 — 12).
These two are central events of the festival and will be the main reasons for players to travel to Las Vegas. So, those players can now pencil in the dates and start their preparations, while waiting for the full schedule to land.
What to Expect from the 2025 WPT World Championship?
Even with very few specifics out, we can already speculate on what to expect from the upcoming festival based on the experience from previous years.
The Prime Championship is likely to attract a huge number of players. In 2024 and 2023, the event saw around 10,000 entries each time, with both winners banking well over a million.
As for the 2025 WPT World Championship, it is unlikely that the tournament will have a guarantee. While a big guarantee is always good for marketing purposes, it is too big a risk, especially with the WSOP Paradise happening at the same time, which is bound to decrease the number of players in Las Vegas willing to dish out $10k to play in a tournament.
ClubWPT Gold will likely feature a variety of satellites and promotions to send as many players as possible to the festival, so keep an eye out for those if you’re looking for ways to get in on the cheap (or even for free).
As for the rest of the 2025 WPT World Championship schedule, it will likely feature a mix of events with buy-ins starting under $1,000 and going up to $10,000, with maybe a few $25k tournaments added. Judging by the last year, we’ll probably see a good spread of variations, including classic No Limit Hold’em tournaments, Mystery Bounties, Omaha events, and even some mixed games.
We’ll make sure to bring you more details about the 2025 WPT World Championship festival as they become available to help you better prepare for the winter grind well ahead of time.
