BetRivers Poker has been on a tear, running a variety of new promotions ever since it expanded into new states and launched a shared liquidity network that currently spans four states.
Now, the operator has introduced yet another offer specifically designed for tournament players, one that runs through the majority of September (precisely from August 31 through September 25).
The promotion is called Thursday Night Freeroll, and it functions exactly as the name implies: two freerolls are held every Thursday night, awarding tickets to the Sunday major tournaments.
To qualify, all players need to do is participate in the Sunday multi-table tournaments (MTTs) with a minimum buy-in of $1. If a player participates in two MTTs, they win an entry into the Thursday Night Low Freeroll; if they participate in five MTTs, they gain a seat in the Thursday Night High Freeroll.
Both freerolls begin at 8:00 PM on Thursday evenings and will continue to run until September 25. The Low Freeroll provides ten seats into the $10 Mini Main Event, which guarantees $3,000 in prizes, while the High Freeroll grants ten seats into the $100 Main Event, which guarantees $15,000.
It is important to note that entries are awarded exclusively for Sunday play and are only valid for the Thursday that falls within the same promotional week.
For example, if they play the major tournaments this Sunday, September 7, they will receive a freeroll entry valid for the Thursday Night games on September 11. Players are eligible to qualify for both freerolls during the same week if they meet the requirements for each, giving them the chance to win seats worth a combined total of $110. The first freerolls under this promotion took place on the night of September 4.
The promotion is open to players in all four states where BetRivers Poker currently operates — Pennsylvania, Michigan, Delaware, and West Virginia — which are connected together by a shared player pool making it one of the largest US online poker networks.
- The best online poker software in the US with the lowest cash game rake.
- Generous 100% deposit match bonus up to $1000 ($250 in Delaware)
- Now live for players in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Delaware & West Virginia!
PKOs Arrive at BetRivers Poker
The most recent Sunday Main Events were run in the Progressive Knockout (PKO) format, a tournament format that the operator only recently added to its platform. The $10 Mini Main Event attracted 265 entries, resulting in an overlay of $575, while the $100 Main Event brought in 142 entries, creating a significant overlay of $4,365.
In PKO tournaments, half of the prize pool is set aside for traditional payouts based on finishing positions, while the other half is distributed as bounties placed on each player’s head. Any time a player is eliminated, the opponent who knocks them out receives their bounty.
The progressive variation introduces an additional twist: when a bounty is won, part of it is paid immediately, and the remainder is added to the bounty of the winning player, thereby increasing the value of eliminating them later in the tournament. Typically, this split is fifty percent each way.
This dynamic gameplay has made PKOs one of the most exciting and entertaining formats in online poker, and BetRivers has now joined other major operators in offering it.
“We are pleased to introduce PKOs to the BetRivers platform and bring this exciting format to one of our flagship Sunday majors. This is one of the most requested updates our players have asked for, and we’re excited to deliver it,” the operator told pokerfuse.
PKO tournaments are available at a variety of buy-in levels on the platform, starting from as little as $1 and going up to $50.
In addition to the freeroll promotion, the operator is also running a campaign aimed at Sit and Go (SNG) players. This is branded as SNG Surge and is tied to SNG Select, which is BetRivers’ version of Jackpot Sit and Go tournaments. The promotion began on August 25 and will continue through September 14.
During this period, players can earn bonus SNG tickets worth up to a total of $16 each day by playing SNG Select games at specific buy-in levels during Surge Hours, which run daily from 3:00 PM until 6:59 PM Eastern Time.
The promotion is straightforward:
- Playing one or more eligible SNGs earns a $1 SNG ticket.
- Playing three or more eligible SNGs earns a $5 SNG ticket.
- Playing five or more eligible SNGs earns a $10 SNG ticket.
Only SNGs with buy-ins of $1 or more are eligible. Players can earn up to three bonus tickets per day, one from each tier. Tickets are credited within 96 hours of play and must be used within seven days of being issued.
