The 2025 season of the PokerGO Tour is officially in the books. After a year-long competition, it was the high-stakes crusher Alex Foxen emerging at the top of the PGT Leaderboard and claiming the prestigious Player of the Year title.

Chad Eveslage had a great finish as well, triumphing in the $1,000,000 PGT Championship, an exclusive freeroll open to the players who accumulated the most points on the Leaderboard and a select few invitees.

Both of these events happened within a few days of each other, with Foxen confirming his title as the PGT Last Chance series wrapped up and the freeroll taking place over the next couple of days. It was an exciting and dramatic finish, setting the stage for the new season.

Alex Foxen Wraps Things up in Style

Coming into the PGT Last Chance series, Foxen was looking good to win the Player of the Year title, but it wasn’t guaranteed. It all came down to a dramatic finish in the final event of the series between him, Sam Soverel, and Chino Rheem.

Soverel was sent to the rail fairly early, and it was down to Rheem and Foxen. To surge to the top, Chino would have to win the tournament outright. He gave it his best effort, but the poker gods refused to cooperate when it mattered the most, and he ended up finishing in eighth place.

Foxen was still alive in the tournament, and he needed a top-four finish to overtake Soverel and secure the POY honors. However, just to be sure, he went on to win the whole thing.

With that, Alex Foxen’s 2025 PGT Player of the Year title was confirmed. Over the course of the season, he accumulated almost $6.3 million in winnings, cashing in 27 events and claiming a victory in five. Foxen concluded the season with 3,134 points, ahead of Soverel (2,979) and Rheem (2,803).

In addition to the prestigious title, Foxen was awarded $50,000, and he got to start with the largest stack in the $1,000,000 PGT Championship, which is a significant advantage for almost anyone, but especially so for a player of his caliber.

Chad Eveslage Triumphant in the $1,000,000 PGT Championship

The PGT Championship is a season-ending event featuring a $1,000,000 prize pool. There is no buy-in, though. The tournament is open to the top 40 finishers on the yearly leaderboard and a number of Dream Seat winners.

The 2025 edition of the tournament saw a field of 54 players, and, not surprisingly, it was one of the strongest fields you could come across in a poker tournament. In addition to the aforementioned, the seats were filled by the likes of the 2025 WSOP Main Event winner Michael Mizrachi, Daniel Negreanu, Jesse Lonis, Isaac Haxton, Jason Koon, and Ben Lamb, to name just a few.

It’s hard to say who’s the best player in a lineup like this, as most of those made the cut have millions in winnings and numerous big titles to their names. Yet, as is the nature of tournaments, somebody had to win.

The honor of winning the most prestigious tournament of the PGT season went to Chad Eveslage, who outlasted the remaining 53 opponents and had to defeat Andrew Lichtenberger in a heads-up skirmish to secure the title. For this achievement, Eveslage added $500,000 to his bankroll.

Daniel Negreanu made it to the final table as well, but he couldn’t make it all the way, eventually finishing in fourth place.

  • 1st Chad Eveslage – $500,000
  • 2nd Andrew Lichtenberger – $200,000
  • 3rd Michael Wang – $120,000
  • 4th Daniel Negreanu – $80,000
  • 5th Aaron Kupin – $60,000
  • 6th John Riordan – $40,000

This wraps up the 2025 PokerGO Tour season, but it won’t be long before players are back in their seats to start the chase all over again. The first event of the 2026 season, PGT Kickoff, begins on January 26, followed by a Mixed Game series in February.
