Some WPT Global players have received emails notifying them that their accounts will soon be transferred to another platform called Nexa Poker.

The migration is set for March 2 and, according to the communication, players are not required to take any action, aside from possibly updating their client software.

The message states that existing balances, usernames, and passwords will move across automatically. After the transition is completed, affected players will access their accounts through Nexa Poker rather than the WPT Global client.

WPT Global has not made a formal public announcement regarding the development. However, a representative on the operator’s official Discord channel has confirmed that the emails are genuine and not a phishing attempt. Players seeking clarification have been encouraged to reach out directly to the company via email.

Pokerfuse contacted WPT Global to verify the migration and to determine which jurisdictions are impacted. As of publication, the operator has not responded.

Most of the reports so far appear to be coming from Canada, though there have also been mentions from players in other countries, including Brazil and Peru. Not all WPT Global customers seem to be affected. Based on early feedback, the change appears limited to certain regions rather than a full global transition.

A New Skin Under the WPT Global Network?

Very little information is available about Nexa Poker itself. The website is already live, but does not offer open registration. Instead, it displays a “Play Now” button that leads to a message stating the platform is “Exclusive — By Invitation Only.”

The way the transfer is structured suggests Nexa Poker could function as a new skin within the WPT Global network (WPT Global shares player pool with WePoker and Poker King), likely sharing liquidity with the existing player pool. Its branding also closely mirrors the look and feel of the WPT Global logo, reinforcing the connection.

Like WPT Global, Nexa Poker promotes poker alongside casino games and sports betting. English is the default language on the site, though several other language options are available. The overall presentation appears geared towards an international audience, particularly online poker in Canada and parts of South America including online poker in Brazil.

According to corporate information listed on the website, Nexa Poker is operated by Runstream Ltd, a company incorporated in Costa Rica. The platform holds a license issued by the Anjouan Offshore Authority. Anjouan, a small island jurisdiction in the Indian Ocean, has in recent years begun issuing licenses to a growing number of online gambling operators, including several crypto-focused poker sites.

Questions remain over why certain players are being shifted and whether additional regions will be included later. WPT Global has not publicly explained the reasoning behind the move or specified the jurisdictions affected. The “invitation only” wording could indicate that the platform is intended for a particular segment of affiliate-tracked accounts.

Another possibility is that the transition is aimed at separating grey-market traffic from regulated markets. Such a structure could allow WPT Global to focus on obtaining licenses in regulated European jurisdictions like the UK online poker, where it does not currently operate, while Nexa Poker handles grey-market activity.

More clarity is expected once the migration takes effect.

WPT Asia Series in Full Swing

Meanwhile, the WPT Asia Series, which began on February 15, is in full swing. The festival carries a ¥100 million guaranteed prize pool, equivalent to nearly $15 million, making it the largest guaranteed series in the operator’s history.

Although clearly tailored toward Asian players, the series is not geographically restricted. The promotional page states that it is open to all eligible participants. The schedule includes more than 100 tournaments running over four weeks, offering a wide range of formats and buy-in levels.

A key attraction is the awarding of WPT rings to select champions. There are nine Ring Events in total, including five Ring Championship tournaments held each Sunday from February 15 through March 15. An additional four rings will be awarded through Phased events.

The festival follows a progressive structure, with buy-ins and guarantees increasing as the weeks go on. In addition to the Ring Events, the lineup features weekly Main Events presented in a Mystery Bounty phased format. These flagship tournaments carry guarantees ranging from ¥1 million to ¥3 million, roughly equivalent to $140K to $430K.

The series also includes a Player of the Series leaderboard with ¥3 million in total prizes, of which ¥1 million will go to the overall winner.
