If you’ve been wondering what’s happening with The Big Game on Tour, you’re not alone. It’s been over four months since the latest segment of the show aired on YouTube, and there have been very few updates from PokerStars regarding when new episodes might come out.
The good news is that the wait is finally over. PokerStars finally broke the silence and made an official announcement that the show will be coming back on Sunday, March 8.
It will be a set of five new episodes airing once a week, and from a short trailer, it looks like we’re in for a real treat and possibly the most interesting session yet. Taking the Loose Cannon seat will be Luke Wakelin, the last of the three LCs, and he’ll have his work cut out for him.
A Dream Lineup
By the looks of it, fans are in for a proper treat, as PokerStars gathered one of the most entertaining lineups we could possibly ask for.
Keeping Luke company at the table will be Phil Hellmuth and Antonio Esfandiari, defending the colors for hardened professionals.
Hellmuth has had his fair share of skirmishes with Loose Cannons, and he’ll be looking to avoid any bad beats that might put him on tilt. Esfandiari, on the other hand, has been away from televised games for quite a while, but he is now back in full swing, and watching Antonio perform his magic at the tables never gets old.
Also taking a seat will be Nick Wright, a well-known sports personality, poker commentator, and avid recreational player who isn’t afraid to mix it up with the best and play for high stakes. Nick may not have as much experience as Phil or ‘The Magician,’ but he more than makes up for it with his enthusiasm and true passion for the game.
Rob Gronkowski, a former NFL star and a current FanDuel ambassador, will be in the mix as well, bringing his unique energy to the table. The football legend may not be an experienced poker player, but he loves to win, and he’s not shy about celebrating his victories.
This lineup, combined with the usual tension of The Big Game on Tour, is guaranteed to produce many funny, exciting, and memorable moments for all of us watching from our homes, but what about the Loose Cannon?
Will Luke Wakelin Live Up to His Promise?
Of the three Loose Cannons selected for Season 2 of The Big Game on Tour, Luke Wakelin was arguably the most ambitious one. During his audition, he made it clear that he came to play and, if given the opportunity, he’d use it to go for the glory.
Will he live up to this promise, or will he crumble under pressure?
It’s one thing to make plans in your head; it’s another entirely to execute those plans under the bright lights, facing famous personalities and poker players with decades of experience under their belts. Plus, it’s impossible to tell how cards will break down over just 150 hands.
But that’s what makes The Big Game one of the most entertaining poker shows out there. One player, one dream, $100,000 bankroll, and only a few dozen hands to try and make a profit. Every single Loose Cannon approaches this opportunity differently, depending on their level of confidence, live experience, personal situation, and more.
All this is to say that we could be in for a real treat come Sunday as the Big Game on Tour kicks off for an exciting conclusion of Season 2!
