Stake, one of the fastest-growing operators in the international iGaming market, recently announced the launch of Stake Poker in Mexico, making it the first locally licensed market in which the poker site operates.
The newly acquired operating license in Mexico marks the fourth license the company has obtained in Latin America over the last few years, as it already operates sports betting and online casino products under local licenses in Colombia, Peru, and Brazil.
Yet, Mexico was chosen as the first LATAM market for Stake Poker, and the license was obtained in partnership with Capali la Paz Operaciones, a retail casino operator. Under the terms of the license, Mexican players will get to play within Stake’s international player pool, which includes players from dozens of countries and operates under a Curaçao license.
The Stake Poker product launched in Mexico is not to be mistaken for Stake.us, the sweepstakes poker platform that operates in about 30 states across the US using the dual-currency sweepstakes model that’s created a lot of controversy over the last couple of years.
In-House Software Brings a Comprehensive Poker Product
According to the available information, Stake Poker, which is fully integrated into Stake Casino’s browser-based platform, was developed entirely in-house by the staff at Stake’s parent company, Easygo.
Despite that, Stake Poker is already one of the best and most comprehensive poker platforms on the market, offering a wide range of game types, special features, and promotions for players to enjoy.
When it comes to different poker games, Stake Poker offers Mexican players and those in the international market a chance to play No Limit Hold’em, as well as 4, 5, and 6-Card Pot Limit Omaha. These are by far the most popular poker games these days, although the complete lack of mixed games is a bit of a downside.
The Stake Poker lobby also includes a variety of different poker formats, ranging from classic poker cash games and tournaments to All-In or Fold games, Stake’s own variant of fast-fold poker dubbed Next!, and JAQKpot!, a three-handed jackpot sit-and-go variant.
The platform offers knockout, progressive knockout, and mystery bounty tournaments, in line with tournament poker trends these days. This ensures that tournament players used to playing on other sites and networks feel right at home from day one.
Special features included in Stake Poker’s platform include straddles at cash game tables, a 4-color deck, run it twice (and up to four times), and rabbit hunting, to mention just a few.
The newly launched Mexican site also offers a range of promotions and events for the players, including a juicy Bad Beat Jackpot, the World KO Championship, All-In or Fold Jackpot, and $1,000,000 in Next! Drops reserved for players playing Stake’s unique version of fast-fold poker.
Whether you’re a cash game player or a tournament grinder playing from Mexico, the new site brings plenty of opportunities to jump into games you’re already familiar with and capitalize, despite the relatively limited player pool.
Fast Expansion Across Global Markets
Stake’s launch of Stake Poker in Mexico is only the latest in a series of aggressive expansion moves made by the operator’s parent company, Easygo, in recent years.
Stake was first launched back in 2017 as an offshore crypto gambling site, featuring both a sportsbook and an online casino. The early years were slow, but the launch of a sweepstakes gaming platform in the US in 2022 brought a turning point.
Since then, Stake has continued to grow in popularity, both as a sweepstakes poker and casino operator in the US under Stake.us and as a crypto gambling platform on the international market.
In 2021, the operator launched a licensed platform in the UK, but eventually shut it down after being investigated by the UKGC over advertising rules.
The operator continued its expansion with further launches in Colombia in 2023, Peru in 2024, and Brazil in early 2025, bringing its sports betting and casino products to three LATAM markets in just under two years.
For the time being, Mexico remains the only regulated market in Latin America where Stake offers its poker platform under a local license, although players from other countries of the region can play on the international site.
The operator also actively serves a number of regulated markets in Europe with its betting and casino products, including Denmark and Italy, and has a pending license in Ontario, but has not made any immediate plans for further Stake Poker launches known at this time.
