WPT Global's inaugural tournament series, the WPT Summer Festival, is blazing into the home stretch.
The WPT Summer Festival, which started on July 21, comprises exactly 50 events promising $3.5 million in total guarantees. Running until August 22, plenty of high-profile events are on the schedule with massive guarantees, including two million-dollar events.
One of those two million-dollar events is a never-before-attempted $1 For $1 Million mega tournament, which, as the name suggests, promises a whopping million-dollar guarantee for a buy-in that costs just $1 to enter.
The tournament is bound to cost the operator well over $900,000 and would provide an Estimated Value (EV) of over $22 for every $1 a player invests. The tournament has been extended and will continue to run through September, with the Final Day 3 scheduled to run on October 3.

For serious grinders who are looking to compete for the same massive prize pool in a soft field with fewer entrants, the Main Event is what they should look to play. The buy-in for the crown jewel of the series is set at $330, promising a $1,000,000 guarantee.
With the entry fee set at $330, the tournament must attract over 3333 entries to cover its guarantee. It is very likely the tournament will fall short of its guarantee and provide more value to what is already set to be one of the softest Main Events in online poker history.
Much like every other tournament in the series, the Main Event is structured as a flight event, featuring multiple Day 1s leading up to the final Day 2. Day 1s run every day until August 22.
The top 20% of the survivors from each flight will advance to Day 2. Considering that the tournament is likely to fall short of its guarantee, all survivors on Day 2 may be in the money when the play starts.
Players can play as many Day 1s as they want, even if they qualify for Day 2. The tournament has adopted the best-stack-forward policy, meaning players will start Day 2 with the biggest accumulated stack. Players can make as many rebuys as they want into any individual Day 1 flight.
Day 2 will play down to the final table, which will be played eight-handed. The Final table will reconvene on August 22 and run until the winner is crowned.
What’s Left On the WPT Summer Festival Schedule Other than the Million-Guaranteed Events?
The WPT Summer Festival is not just limited to those two million-guaranteed events. There are plenty of other exciting events to look forward to. This includes the Mini Main Event for players with smaller bankrolls, running during the same period. This one offers a $100,000 guaranteed prize money for a buy-in of just $11.
With such a small buy-in, there is no doubt the tournament will also fall short of its target.
A few more tournaments are planned in the next few days, including the Progressive Bounty Turbo guaranteeing $20,000 for a buy-in of $220 scheduled to run on August 20. A $22 buy-in Deepstack Progressive Bounties take place today, promising a modest $2500 guarantee.
Other side events include the bounty versions of Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO), Short Deck, Deepstack Progressive Bounties, Deepstack Turbos, and satellites to the Main, with buy-ins ranging from $2 to $550.
Not to forget that the winner of every Summer Festival event will earn a seat in the Tournament of Champions Freeroll, which will offer a seat to the WPT World Championship to the top two finishers. The WPT World Championship will take place at Wynn, Las Vegas, in December this year and will guarantee a record-setting $15 million prize money.
