WSOP Ontario has been live for barely a month, and things are getting juicy. The opening of the GGPoker-powered poker room in Canada’s newest segregated market came at the end of September. The operator is now beefing up its Sunday schedule with flagship weekly events.
Sunday has always been a big day on the online poker calendar, and WSOP Ontario is joining the Sunday fun by introducing three new flagship tournaments. The new Sunday Flagship games will have $200,000 guaranteed between them (all values are in $CAD), making Sunday a momentous day for Ontario players.
The new Flagship schedule brings one Omaha game and two Hold’em events, and the cheapest of the three also has the biggest reward. The flagship of the Flagships, the newly announced Ontario Million$, runs every Sunday at 20:30, guaranteeing $100k for the bargain price of just $50.
There is also an Omaholic Million$ game alongside a GGMasters event to round out the new Sunday schedule. Players looking to play all three new tournaments can get a shot at the $200k in total guarantees for $410 worth of buy-ins.
WSOP.ca Sunday Flagships
Sundays have traditionally been a big day for online tournament players, and thanks to WSOP Ontario, players in the province now have even more to look forward to on the weekends. Dubbed Sunday Flagships, the new tournaments offer a shot at $200,000 in total guarantees between them every single week:
- Ontario Million$
- Buy-In: $50
- Guarantee: $100,000
- Two-Day Event
- Day 1 flights: multiple times per day throughout the week
- Day 2: Sunday, 20:30
- Omaholic Million$
- Buy-In: $210
- Guarantee: $50,000
- Staged Event
- Stage 1 flights: multiple times per day throughout the week
- Final Stage: Sunday 20:30
- Buy-In: $150
- Guarantee: $50,000
- Date: Every Sunday, 17:00
The marquee game on the new schedule is undoubtedly the Ontario Million$. Carrying the Million$ brand over from GGPoker’s global poker presence, the new WSOP Ontario room is turning up the heat, with a buy-in/gtd ratio that requires over 2000 entries to hit the promised prize pool.
That is certainly possible, but it also seems likely the Ontario Million$ event will overlay reasonably often given the lofty guarantee. While the ratios for the other two new games are a bit more down-to-earth, they have real potential to be juicy targets for value-hunting players.
Big Opening Month for WSOP Ontario
After coming online in late September, WSOP Ontario hit the ground running, announcing its first Online Circuit Series almost as soon as it went live. Players enjoyed a lot of value in that series, which was quickly followed by the inaugural WSOP.ca Online Bracelet Series that featured the first three WSOP Gold Bracelets ever awarded strictly to Ontario online players.
The other big news from the new Ontario operator featured the return of a native son. Daniel Negreanu has famously been the face of the global GGPoker brand for a few years. With the new WSOP Ontario being powered by GGPoker software and Toronto being Negreanu’s home, it made perfect sense for Canada’s winningest poker player to fully endorse the new brand.
The new Sunday Flagship games are just the beginning of the big news from Ontario’s new online poker operator. With an extra $200k per week now guaranteed in Sunday Flagship games, there is even more reason to check out the schedule on WSOP Ontario and join the action.
