With the WCOOP Boot Camp behind us, the real test is about to begin. The 23rd edition of the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), one of the most prestigious online poker series and the online equivalent of the World Series, is set to take center stage on PokerStars.

As already revealed before by PokerStars, WCOOP 2024 takes place from September 8 through to October 2, and now we have more details: a full schedule and a massive $80 million in guaranteed prize money.

Despite regulatory challenges and increased competition, PokerStars has managed to maintain the $80 million guarantee for the third year in a row. However, this prize pool is now spread across 379 tournaments, making this year’s WCOOP series the largest ever in terms of the number of tournaments.

WCOOP 2024 — Everything You Need to Know

  • Runs from September 8 to October 2
  • $80 million in guaranteed prize money
  • 379 prestigious tournaments
  • Buy-ins range from $5.50 to $25,000
  • 12 Championship Events
  • Over $10 million guaranteed Main Events
  • Multiple leaderboards with $100k in added prizes

As is tradition, the tournaments are divided into three tiers — Low, Medium, and High — to accommodate all types of players, with buy-ins ranging from $5.50 to $25,000.

The series will feature a dozen Championship events, each dedicated to a different format, including No-Limit Hold’em (NLHE), Heads-Up NLHE, 6-Max NLHE, Women’s NLHE, 2-7 Triple Draw, 6-Max PLO, NLHE PKO, and more.

The signature WCOOP Main Events, the crown jewels of the series, are set to return on September 29 with buy-ins of $109, $1,050, and $10,300 for both NLHE and PLO. The NLHE Main Events alone will guarantee a combined $10.5 million in prize money, including a $5 million guaranteed World Championship of NLHE with a $10,300 buy-in. The PLO Main Events also promise decent prize money, offering a combined $1.5 million, with the World Championship of PLO guaranteeing $800,000.

WCOOP 2024 Main Events (September 29)

  • $109 NLHE WCOOP Main Event-L — $2.5M GTD
  • $1,050 NLHE WCOOP Main Event-M — $3.5M GTD
  • $10,300 NLHE WCOOP Main Event-H — World Championship of NLHE – $5M GTD
  • $109 PLO WCOOP Main Event-L — $200K GTD
  • $1,050 PLO WCOOP Main Event-M — $500K GTD
  • $10,300 PLO WCOOP Main Event-H — World Championship of PLO – $800K GTD

But it’s not just the Championship events that offer prestige — every tournament in the series will award coveted silverware to the winners, making WCOOP a truly prestigious series.

But this year’s WCOOP promises to be extraordinary. For the first time, Mystery Bounty tournaments will be featured as part of the series, adding an exciting twist to the action. Additionally, winners of four dedicated Women’s Events, taking place between September 28 and 29, will receive prize packages valued at £1,200 each.

These packages grant entry to the £100,000 guaranteed Women’s Winter Festival, scheduled at London’s iconic Hippodrome Casino from November 1 to 24, 2024.

Plenty of Ways to Qualify for the WCOOP Events

PokerStars continues to offer numerous qualification routes for players to join the bigger events, ensuring that those with smaller bankrolls don’t miss out. The popular Power Path qualification system will be available, offering players a chance to win Silver and Gold WCOOP bundles worth $2,500 and $10,300, respectively.

Launched last year, Power Path has become one of the best ways to secure seats in PokerStars’ biggest events, with qualification starting at just 50 cents. Additionally, there will be plenty of direct satellites running throughout the series, including those for the Main Events.

The Fast Track satellites, which often run during SCOOP and WCOOP, will also be available, with buy-ins starting at just $2.20. And let’s not forget the special WCOOP edition Spin & Go’s, offering buy-ins starting from just $0.75.

WCOOP 2024 Promos

As always, PokerStars is offering a host of promotions alongside its major series, and this year is no different. WCOOP wouldn’t be complete without its leaderboards, and PokerStars is delivering four of them — one for each tier (Low, Medium, and High) and an Overall leaderboard — with $100,000 in added value prizes up for grabs.

Additionally, all WCOOP 2023 champions are invited to an exclusive freeroll on September 14, where $50,000 in complimentary series tickets will be awarded.

For the first time, WCOOP will also feature its own league, inspired by the SCOOP league earlier this year. In this promotion, six teams will compete for bragging rights, each led by PokerStars ambassadors such as Lex Veldhuis, Ben Spragg, Fintan Hand, and Parker Talbot.

However, two team captains remain a mystery. PokerStars has hinted that “their identities are expected to prompt widespread speculation among the current captains and the wider poker community.” These two mystery captains will be revealed during the upcoming EPT Barcelona. Could they be new PokerStars ambassadors? Time will tell.
