Florida does not currently have regulated real-money online poker, but players in the Sunshine State have several other ways to play poker online and an extensive regulated live poker market.

Florida Online Poker GuideState-regulated online poker platforms such as PokerStars exclusively on FanDuel, WSOP Online, BetMGM Poker, and BetRivers Poker are not available in Florida.

Some sweepstakes and subscription-based poker platforms currently accept eligible Florida players, including Clubs Poker, Stake.us Poker, ClubWPT Gold, ClubWPT, and Global Poker. These platforms use promotional, sweepstakes, or subscription models rather than operating as Florida-licensed real-money poker rooms.

Florida also has a well-established live poker industry. Licensed cardrooms can legally offer poker for money under the oversight of the Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC), while tribal casinos provide additional live poker options.

This guide explains the current legal status of Florida online poker, the sweepstakes poker platforms currently available, Florida’s live poker market, and the legal and regulatory issues that would have to be addressed before conventional real-money online poker could launch.

Is Online Poker Legal in Florida?

Florida does not currently authorize or regulate conventional real-money online poker.

There are no Florida-licensed online poker rooms offering real-money cash games or tournaments over the internet.

Regulated US online poker platforms unavailable in Florida include:

  • PokerStars exclusively on FanDuel
  • WSOP Online
  • BetMGM Poker
  • BetRivers Poker

Florida does authorize several other forms of gambling, including live poker at licensed cardrooms and certain gaming conducted by the Seminole Tribe of Florida.

However, the state has not established a licensing framework for conventional real-money online poker.

Sweepstakes and subscription poker platforms operate under different business and promotional models and should not be confused with Florida-regulated online gambling.

What Gambling Is Legal in Florida?

Florida has a substantial regulated gambling industry despite not having conventional commercial casinos or regulated online poker.

Authorized gambling includes:

  • Florida Lottery games
  • Pari-mutuel wagering
  • Poker at licensed cardrooms
  • Slot machines at authorized pari-mutuel facilities in Miami-Dade and Broward counties
  • Tribal casino gaming
  • Sports betting operated pursuant to the Seminole Tribe’s gaming compact
  • Certain charitable and recreational gaming permitted under state law

The Florida Gaming Control Commission regulates the state’s pari-mutuel, cardroom, and authorized slot-machine industries and performs state oversight responsibilities under the gaming compact between Florida and the Seminole Tribe.

Florida law specifically authorizes licensed cardrooms to offer poker games for money.

That authorization does not extend to conventional real-money online poker.

Sweepstakes Poker in Florida

Several sweepstakes poker platforms currently accept eligible Florida players.

These platforms operate differently from conventional state-regulated online poker rooms.

A common sweepstakes model uses two virtual currencies:

  • Gold Coins for social or free-play gaming
  • Sweeps Coins or another promotional currency for qualifying games offering redeemable prizes

Some platforms use different structures.

ClubWPT uses a subscription and Tournament Point model, while ClubWPT Gold now incorporates Hand Analysis Credits and gameplay Chips.

Florida law also recognizes certain “game promotions,” including sweepstakes conducted in connection with and incidental to the sale of consumer products or services.

However, that does not mean every online sweepstakes gaming model has been specifically approved by Florida.

Are Sweepstakes Poker Sites Legal in Florida?

Florida does not license or regulate sweepstakes poker platforms as real-money online poker rooms.

Some sweepstakes operators currently accept eligible Florida players under their promotional models, but operator availability should not be interpreted as a determination by Florida authorities that a particular sweepstakes poker model complies with all applicable state law.

Florida has statutory rules governing legitimate game promotions and sweepstakes.

Those rules impose requirements on qualifying promotions, including additional filing and prize-security requirements for certain promotions offering more than $5,000 in prizes.

Compliance with Florida’s game-promotion rules does not itself constitute state approval of an online gaming platform or provide an exemption from other Florida gambling laws.

Players should therefore distinguish between:

  • Florida-regulated gambling
  • Sweepstakes or subscription poker platforms that currently accept Florida players
  • Genuine free-play poker with no cash-redemption prizes

Only the first category represents gambling specifically licensed or regulated by Florida.

For more information about how the sweepstakes model works, see our Sweepstakes Online Poker Guide.

Sweepstakes Poker Sites Available in Florida

Several poker platforms currently accept eligible Florida players using sweepstakes, promotional, or subscription-based models.

The following profiles describe current operator availability rather than licensing or regulatory approval by Florida.

State eligibility can change, so players should check current operator terms before participating.

Clubs Poker

Clubs Poker online poker room

Clubs Poker is a poker-focused sweepstakes platform that currently accepts eligible Florida players.

The site uses:

  • Gold Coins for social play
  • Sweeps Coins for qualifying promotional games offering redeemable prizes

Clubs Poker offers a particularly broad selection of poker variants.

Games include No-Limit Texas Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven Card Stud, HORSE, and 2-7 Draw.

The platform offers ring games, Sit & Go tournaments, and multi-table tournaments, along with features such as bomb pots, straddles, Run It Twice, and mixed games.

Clubs Poker is not licensed or regulated as a real-money online poker room by Florida.

Stake.us Poker

Stake.us Poker online poker room

Stake.us Poker operates within the larger Stake.us sweepstakes gaming platform.

Stake.us uses:

  • Stake Cash as its promotional sweepstakes currency

Its poker platform offers peer-to-peer poker alongside the company’s broader sweepstakes casino product.

Poker games include No-Limit Texas Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha, with ring games and tournaments available.

Florida is not currently included on Stake.us’ list of excluded states, meaning eligible Florida players can access the platform under its current terms.

Stake.us is not licensed or regulated as a real-money online poker room by Florida.

Read our Stake.us Poker Review for more information.

ClubWPT Gold

ClubWPT Gold online poker room

ClubWPT Gold is a sweepstakes poker platform associated with the World Poker Tour.

The platform changed its operating model substantially in late 2025.

Instead of relying on the traditional Gold Coin/Sweeps Coin structure used by many sweepstakes platforms, ClubWPT Gold now incorporates Hand Analysis Credits and gameplay Chips.

Hand Analysis Credits provide access to poker-training and hand-analysis features, while Chips are used for eligible poker gameplay.

ClubWPT Gold offers ring games and tournaments, with Texas Hold’em at the center of its poker offering.

Florida is currently an eligible jurisdiction for ClubWPT Gold.

The platform is not licensed or regulated as a real-money online poker room by Florida.

Read our ClubWPT Gold Review for additional information.

ClubWPT

ClubWPT online poker room

ClubWPT is a subscription-based poker platform associated with the World Poker Tour.

Unlike a conventional real-money poker room, players do not deposit money and directly buy into individual poker tournaments.

ClubWPT uses Tournament Points for online tournaments, with eligible players able to compete for cash prizes and other prizes that can include entries or packages connected to World Poker Tour events.

The platform focuses on tournament poker rather than conventional ring games.

Florida is currently included among ClubWPT’s eligible states.

ClubWPT is not licensed as a real-money online poker room by Florida.

Read our ClubWPT Review for more information.

Global Poker

Global Poker online poker room

Global Poker is one of the longest-established sweepstakes poker platforms serving US players and currently accepts eligible Florida players.

Global Poker uses:

  • Gold Coins for social poker
  • Sweeps Coins for qualifying promotional games offering redeemable prizes

The platform offers ring games, Sit & Go tournaments, and multi-table tournaments.

Texas Hold’em and Omaha form the core of the platform, with additional poker formats also available.

Global Poker is not licensed or regulated as a real-money online poker room by Florida.

See our Global Poker Review for additional information.

Sweepstakes and subscription poker platforms are not licensed or regulated as real-money online poker rooms by Florida. Current operator availability should not be interpreted as state approval, and eligibility can change.

Free-Play Poker in Florida

Florida players can also use genuine free-play poker sites and apps.

These platforms use virtual chips that have no cash value and cannot be redeemed for money or cash-equivalent prizes.

Popular free-play poker options include Zynga Poker, Replay Poker, and Governor of Poker.

Free-play poker can help beginners learn:

  • Poker hand rankings
  • Betting rounds
  • Table positions
  • Tournament structures
  • Basic poker terminology
  • Online poker software

Free-play poker should be distinguished from sweepstakes poker.

Genuine free-play games do not use a redeemable promotional currency and do not award cash-redemption prizes.

Because nothing of financial value is at stake, gameplay can differ considerably from conventional real-money poker.

However, free-play poker provides a straightforward option for Florida players interested in learning or playing recreationally online.

Live Poker in Florida

Florida has one of the more extensive regulated live poker markets in the United States.

Unlike online poker, live poker played for money is specifically authorized at licensed Florida cardrooms.

The Florida Gaming Control Commission regulates cardrooms operating at authorized pari-mutuel facilities.

Licensed cardrooms can offer poker games including:

  • Texas Hold’em
  • Omaha
  • Seven Card Stud
  • Other authorized poker variants
  • Poker tournaments

Florida law allows authorized cardrooms to charge fees for conducting poker games, subject to state law and regulatory requirements.

The state’s current licensing records include numerous active cardroom licenses at pari-mutuel facilities throughout Florida.

Live poker is also available at some tribal casino properties.

This makes Florida significantly different from states where players have neither regulated online poker nor an extensive regulated live-poker industry.

For a deeper look at poker rooms, laws, games, and venues throughout the state, see our dedicated guide to live poker in Florida.

Will Florida Legalize Online Poker?

Florida has not established a regulatory framework for conventional real-money online poker, and there is currently no confirmed timeline for doing so.

Any future online poker proposal would have to fit within a particularly complex gambling environment involving:

  • Existing Florida gambling laws
  • The Florida Gaming Control Commission
  • The Seminole Tribe’s gaming compact with the state
  • Florida’s constitutional restrictions on expanding casino gambling
  • Existing pari-mutuel and cardroom operators
  • Federal law governing tribal gaming

Florida lawmakers considered broader gambling legislation in 2026 that included proposals concerning internet gambling.

For example, SB 1164 proposed expressly defining and prohibiting unauthorized internet gambling and internet sports wagering.

The proposal did not become law, dying in the Senate Regulated Industries Committee in March 2026.

Florida therefore did not establish a regulated online poker market during the 2026 legislative session.

The Seminole Compact

The Seminole Tribe of Florida is a major part of Florida’s gaming landscape.

Florida and the Tribe entered into an amended gaming compact in 2021 that expanded the Tribe’s gaming rights and established the framework for statewide mobile sports betting.

Under the compact, mobile sports wagers made by players physically located in Florida are deemed to occur where the Tribe’s servers receive the wagers on Indian lands.

The compact also provides the Seminole Tribe with substantial exclusivity over specified forms of gaming, including statewide sports betting, subject to exceptions contained in the agreement.

That makes the Tribe an important consideration in any future proposal to expand online gambling.

However, the compact should not be interpreted as giving the Seminole Tribe blanket exclusive control over every possible form of online gambling in Florida.

The structure of any future online poker proposal would have to be evaluated under Florida law, the state constitution, the existing compact, and applicable federal tribal gaming law.

Amendment 3 and Voter Approval

Florida’s constitution creates another potential complication for gambling expansion.

Article X, Section 30 — commonly associated with Amendment 3, approved by voters in 2018 — gives Florida voters the exclusive right to authorize “casino gambling” under state law through a citizens’ initiative.

The constitutional provision defines casino gambling by reference to Class III gaming under federal tribal gaming law and includes a number of casino-style games.

It also contains exceptions involving gaming conducted pursuant to tribal-state compacts under federal law.

That means a future proposal involving online poker would require careful analysis of whether and how the constitutional provision applies to the particular structure being proposed.

It would be too broad to say that every possible form of online poker legalization automatically requires a statewide referendum.

However, Florida’s constitutional gambling restrictions, tribal gaming framework, and existing state laws create additional legal considerations that lawmakers in many other states do not face.

There is currently no approved Florida online poker launch plan.

Could Florida Join MSIGA?

Florida is not currently a member of the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA).

MSIGA allows participating jurisdictions to authorize approved online poker operators to combine players across state lines.

The agreement currently includes:

  • Delaware
  • Michigan
  • Nevada
  • New Jersey
  • Pennsylvania
  • West Virginia

Shared liquidity can be particularly valuable for online poker because larger player pools can support:

  • More active cash-game tables
  • More stakes
  • Larger tournament fields
  • Bigger tournament guarantees
  • More poker variants
  • Better game availability throughout the day

Florida would first have to authorize and regulate conventional real-money online poker before interstate shared liquidity became a practical issue.

If that happened, state policymakers could separately determine whether Florida poker would remain within an intrastate player pool or whether approved operators could participate in an interstate arrangement such as MSIGA.

No such decision has been made.

Offshore Online Poker Sites in Florida Some offshore poker sites accept Florida players but are not licensed or regulated by Florida. Pokerfuse does not recommend offshore poker sites because players do not receive the consumer protections provided by a state-regulated US online poker market.
