BetRivers Poker revived online poker in Delaware on June 10, generating strong revenue during its first weeks of operation. The figures more than doubled what 888 generated during its final month before the market went dark.
Delaware poker players had been without a legal option for 18 months after 888’s departure in late 2023. This marked the only time in US online poker history that a regulated market went completely dark after operating for over a decade.
The state’s online poker market now sits at levels last seen during the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020. Outside that exceptional period, only the market’s initial launch months over a decade ago saw comparable revenue. BetRivers achieved these numbers despite launching mid-month during summer, traditionally the slowest period for online poker.

Revenue surge exceeds expectations
The simultaneous launch across four states on June 10 gave BetRivers Poker advantages that previous operators never had. Delaware players now compete against opponents from Pennsylvania, Michigan, and West Virginia in the nation’s newest multi-state network.
BetRivers Poker generated $53,609 in revenue during its 21 days of operation in June. This more than doubled the $24,190 generated during 888’s final month in December 2023. On a per-day basis, BetRivers averaged $2,552, nearly triple December 2023’s rate.
Delaware Park captured 71% of online poker revenue, with Harrington Raceway taking 22% and Bally’s Dover generating 7%. This concentration exceeded both historical poker splits and current online casino distributions.
The operator launched in Pennsylvania in October 2024 and has already built a four-state network matching WSOP’s reach in terms of connected states. The speed of this expansion sets BetRivers apart from competitors who took years to achieve similar coverage.
Online casino growth outpaces poker
BetRivers’ impact on Delaware’s online casino market was even larger than its poker revival. The operator reported $8 million in online casino revenue for June, making poker less than one percent of total igaming revenue.
Under 888, online casino barely reached $1 million monthly. BetRivers quadrupled that by its second month and has continued growing. Delaware’s online casino market is now eight times larger than under the previous operator.
Rush Street Interactive applied lessons from its operations in other states to Delaware’s small market. The company’s integrated platform allows players to move between poker, casino, and sports betting with one account.
The iRush Rewards program provides incentives across all products, encouraging players to try different verticals. This cross-promotion strategy has proven effective in building overall revenue.
Growth trajectory points higher
July revenue should reach $75,000 based on current trends, which would place it among the highest months in Delaware poker history. If growth continues, the market could break $100,000 monthly by winter.
The operator recently completed its first tournament series, awarding over $255,000 across 71 events. The Multi-State Summer Series drew nearly 13,000 entries despite being smaller than competitors’ offerings.
Progressive knockout tournaments are in testing and should launch soon. These formats are standard at other sites and typically boost tournament participation significantly.
New Jersey will join the network later this year, creating America’s first five-state online poker network. This addition could provide the player volume needed to compete more directly with PokerStars and WSOP.
The platform includes features not found elsewhere. Dynamic Avatars show opponents’ playing styles visually, while the built-in HeroIQ system provides statistics without third-party software. Fixed buy-ins and anonymous seating prevent players from targeting weaker opponents.
Delaware’s results show that smaller markets can support online poker when connected to larger player pools. The state’s 18-month blackout created conditions for strong initial numbers, but sustaining this growth will require continued innovation and the planned New Jersey expansion.
