BetRivers Poker launched the latest version of its online poker software on April 30, with client update 2.18.0 introducing a variety of new features, bug fixes, and performance updates.
The most recent software update was applied to both the desktop and mobile clients, bringing the new features to players across the board and fixing a variety of technical and aesthetic issues that players reported from the previous versions.
The update went live days before the launch of the BetRivers Summer Warm-Up, the operator’s most recent tournament series with a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool, which will continue running until May 17. Tournament lobby fixes were among the key upgrades introduced with the new software version, and they were immediately applied to enhance the experience of players in the Summer Warm-Up.

BetRivers Tournament Lobby Undergoes a Major Overhaul
A few of the major updates introduced with software update 2.18.0 were related directly to the operator’s tournament lobby. For starters, BetRivers changed the dark background which was previously used to display highlighted tournaments, making it easier for players to read the tournament details on the highlighted events.
The new, lighter design and font adjustments make the tournament lobby much more player-friendly and reduce the strain on the eyes. Although this change may be just a visual one, its impact on the overall user experience should be significant.
BetRivers Poker also introduced icons to the tournament lobby, which help players define the tournament format. The different icons represent bounty, turbo, 6-max, PLO, and other tournament types, and a single glance at a tournament in the lobby now tells players all the key details about the event.
Tournament icons are standard practice in most online poker apps these days, and the introduction of this feature has put BetRivers Poker a step closer to matching its competition in all key areas.
Further Updates Improve In-Game Responsiveness
Beyond the tournament lobby, BetRivers updated a number of other features within its desktop and mobile apps.
The tournament ticket menu received an upgrade, making it easier to sift through the different tournament tickets in one’s account and access the different tournaments you can register with them.
Other small updates were made to various gameplay features, including a smoother transition from Time to Act to Timebank, cards being shown at showdown for players who are sitting out, and more.
The overall in-game responsiveness and multi-monitor setup support have also been improved, which should greatly improve the gameplay experience for all the grinders playing on more than one monitor.
Mobile users can now display their stacks in big blinds in the mini view, while all players can make up to five hand history requests per 24 hours.
While BetRivers Poker has continued pushing out small updates weekly since its launch, the most recent version has introduced more changes than most previous updates, making this one of the more comprehensive overhauls in functionality to date.
In-House Software Gives BetRivers an Edge
As the regulated online poker market in the US continues to expand, BetRivers Poker remains the only operator to use an in-house poker platform, with operators like WSOP, BetMGM Poker, and PokerStars using software platforms from 888poker, PartyPoker, and iPoker for their North American operations.
The in-house software provides BetRivers Poker with a unique edge, as they are the only operator that can quickly implement small changes and act on player feedback instantly, without waiting on help from third parties.
BetRivers is currently live in four states, putting it on par with major competitors like WSOP and PokerStars. A New Jersey launch, which is expected to come in the near future, should allow BetRivers Poker to reach new highs and become one of the most competitive online poker operators in the country.
The operator’s recent tournament series, including the current BetRivers Summer Warm-Up, is a clear testament to its competitiveness. While other operators, such as FanDuel by PokerStars, run series with bigger guarantees, they also face a greater number of overlays and tournaments not reaching the expected player numbers.
While BetRivers remains one of the smaller players in terms of market share, its software updates, regular tournament series, and consistent expansion into new states are all great steps toward becoming a more significant part of the highly competitive US online poker market.
