The soccer-themed Spin & Goal promotion from PokerStars Exclusively on FanDuel has proven to be a major success among players across the United States and Ontario since its launch.

The operator has released a series of statistics showcasing the strong early performance of its Spin & Goal promotion, which launched ahead of the Football World Cup that began on Thursday.

Since launch, more than 115,000 Spin & Goal tournaments have been played at the $5 buy-in level, generating $1.58 million in prize payouts. The special edition Spin & Go format has attracted approximately 345,000 total entries, with 106,000 of those entries coming through promotional tickets distributed to players. Around 30,000 individual players have taken part in the games so far.

Spin & Goal is a special version of PokerStars’ popular Spin & Go lottery sit and go format. For the duration of the promotion, the $5 buy-in tournament features a headline jackpot of $1 million. Under normal circumstances, the standard $5 Spin & Go offers a maximum prize of $50,000, making the promotional jackpot a substantial increase.

The campaign is available to players in New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, as well as Ontario, where FanDuel Poker launched only last week. As part of the promotional effort, new players in both the US and Ontario receive two complimentary tickets to the tournament.

The promotion arrives alongside the Football World Cup, widely regarded as the most-watched sporting event on the planet. Held every four years, this year’s tournament is being hosted jointly by the US, Canada, and Mexico.

The campaign also represents the operator’s first major marketing initiative since relaunching under the PokerStars on FanDuel brand, which now operates on a new software platform. The legacy PokerStars client has officially been phased out across North American markets.

A key attraction of Spin & Goal is the chance to win the $1 million top prize. The 200,000x multiplier required to unlock that jackpot is extraordinarily rare, with odds of approximately one in 100 million games. By comparison, the $250 prize level appears once in every 2,000 games on average.

Still, 69 tournaments have already awarded the $250 prize since the promotion began. Spin & Goal is scheduled to continue through July, concluding shortly after the World Cup wraps up.

Tried & Tested Concepted With a Fresh Twist

The Spin & Goal is a tried-and-tested concept of PokerStars. The promotion first appeared eight years ago during 2014 World Cup tournament and returned again for Euro 2020.

While the $1 million jackpot serves as the centerpiece of the campaign, it is not exclusive to Spin & Goal. In international markets, the regular $5 Spin & Go already offers a $1 million top prize. PokerStars frequently introduces limited-time formats with adjusted prize structures and modified payout tables to create additional excitement.

The most noticeable difference this time is the football-themed presentation, which ties directly into the World Cup and provides a clear promotional angle. Free ticket distributions have also played a significant role in attracting participation. All newly registered players receive two complimentary entries to the $5 tournament.

In late May, PokerStars also conducted a limited-time ticket giveaway, offering four free entries to players who claimed them through the client. Additional ticket promotions may be introduced as the World Cup progresses.

In Ontario, operations remain largely in a soft-launch stage. Although the platform officially went live on June 4, tournament offerings have so far been limited, with only three to four events running each day. The operator has confirmed that a complete multi-table tournament schedule will be introduced in the near future. Cash game offerings, meanwhile, are already running at full capacity.

PokerStars is also running football-themed World Cup promotions in its international jurisdictions, although the formats and prize structures vary by market. The operator is not alone in leveraging the heightened interest surrounding the tournament, as a number of online poker rooms have launched related campaigns. Among them is BetRivers Poker, which is also looking to capitalize on World Cup excitement.
