PokerStars USA has announced the dates for its flagship Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) Series across all three of its US markets.

The Series will run on PokerStars NJ, PokerStars PA, and PokerStars MI between March 25 and April 11, significantly earlier than previous editions, which traditionally ran in May.

As of right now, PokerStars has not released an official schedule for the upcoming festivals — PASCOOP in Pennsylvania, MISCOOP in Michigan, and NJSCOOP in New Jersey — but it is likely that they will feature similar schedules and guaranteed prize pools to previous years, which would make it one of the biggest festivals in the US for the year.

If previous years are any indication of what we can expect from SCOOP in the US markets this year, players in each state will have an opportunity to play in more than 100 events, and over $5 million in guaranteed prize money will be spread out across the board.

Of course, it is too early to tell if the schedule will have significant changes compared to 2021 but, all things considered, we expect a comparable general structure and at least slightly increased turnout.

What Happened at SCOOP in 2021?

PokerStars USA SCOOP 2021 Overview

Pennsylvania (PASCOOP) Michigan (MISCOOP) New Jersey (NJSCOOP)
Total Gtd $2 Million $2 Million $1.2 Million
Tournaments 123 120 163
Prize Money Awarded $2.6 Million $2.3 Million $1.36 Million

When PokerStars announced SCOOP in the US markets last year, it was the first time the series made its way to the state of Michigan where the operator had just launched its online poker platform.

The series also returned to New Jersey and Pennsylvania. These same three markets are where the 2022 series will be available once again, as the operator has not yet expanded into any additional US markets.

The festival featured a $2,000,000 guaranteed prize pool in both Michigan and Pennsylvania, along with a slightly lower figure in New Jersey. All three managed to break their guarantees, amassing a total prize pool of $6,260,000.

When it comes to the Main Event — the flagship tournament of the Series — all three markets featured a $300 buy-in in 2021, with Pennsylvania managing to attract the highest number of entries at 1,015 and Michigan and New Jersey attracting 871 and 391 respectively.

With more than 113,000 total entries across the 406 events held across the three markets, the 2021 SCOOP was a huge success for PokerStars, who will be aiming to build off this momentum and break even more records in 2022.

Last year, it was most interesting to follow the progress of MISCOOP, as this was the first time the series was offered to Michigan players. PokerStars took an ambitious plan by offering $2 million in guarantees, but MISCOOP easily broke this guarantee and handed out more than $2.3 million in prizes.

As we go into the new season of SCOOP, tournament players have much to look forward to, with the official schedule set to be announced in the coming days.
