BetMGM is the second poker site to join the regulated online gambling market in Pennsylvania, becoming the first competitor for PokerStars PA. The site went live in April of 2021, adding some diversity to the online poker scene and providing players with a brand new option.

BetMGM USA is one of the three operators on the renowned partypoker US network together with Borgata and partypoker. Thus, the room gets to use the modern partypoker platform that enjoys a great reputation with the players. However, despite being on the same network, these poker sites do not share player pools across state borders at this time.

Offering a very nice welcome bonus for new players, including $25 worth of free play and the first deposit boost up to $600, BetMGM is definitely a nice addition to the market and a great alternative for all players, from the casual ones looking for a bit of fun to serious grinders.

It will be interesting to see what the operator has in store for the future and what plans they have for online poker in Pennsylvania. As of right now, their prospects look very solid.

The brand has a presence in a number of US states, but their poker product specifically is only available in New Jersey and Michigan.

In this BetMGM Poker PA review, we will take an extensive look into what the poker site has to offer in terms of games, promotions and bonuses, banking options, and more. The text should help you decide if this operator meets your expectations and represents a viable option for your online poker aspirations.

Welcome Bonuses

Welcome Bonuses
4.9
Top Notch

Everyone opening their account with BetMGM Poker has access to a nice welcome package consisting of two parts. The first bit is $25 in freeplay, requiring no deposit whatsoever. The second part of the bonus is a 100% match up to $600.

$25 No Deposit Bonus

The moment you sign up for BetMGM Poker PA, you will qualify for their no deposit welcome bonus worth $25. The bonus breaks down as following:

  • $10 in free cash you can use as you wish
  • $15 worth of Tournament Dollars you can use to enter MTTs and SNGs

There are very few restrictions placed on the free cash amount as it is given out by the operator in good faith so that players could try the site and see how they like it. You will only need to play a single raked hand at cash tables to be able to request a withdrawal.

As for the tournament dollars, there are no special restrictions other than the fact you can only use these funds to enter tournaments. Any resulting wins are yours to keep and do with as you like, be it to play on or withdraw.

The 100% Match up to $600

The no deposit bonus is given out to all registered players and it does not prevent you from taking full advantage of the first deposit offer. So, when you are ready to make a deposit, you will get a nice 100% boost up to the maximum of $600.

It is important to keep in mind that the bonus will be applied only to your very first deposit, so if you deposit $200, you will receive $200 worth of bonus funds. Subsequent deposits do not count towards the promo.

The welcome bonus at BetMGM Poker PA is released in 10% increments. For every increment, a player needs to earn 15 times the amount of the increment in iRPs.

For example, a $300 bonus will be broken down into ten $30 increments. To release one increment, a player will need to earn 450 iRPs.

The bonus is valid for 30 days. Any increments released within this period are transferred to your real money balance without any further restrictions. Once 30 days have expired, no future play will count towards releasing the bonus.

Promotions

Promotions

Versatile

BetMGM Poker PA offers a solid variety of promotions for the players to get involved with. As always, these change quite frequently, so the best way to keep up is by visiting the site and logging into your account to see what new promos are available.

Typical promotions you will encounter at BetMGM are:

  • Deposit Match Bonuses – make a deposit during the qualifying period, use the relevant code, and claim a bonus boost.
  • Fast Cash Bonuses – similar to deposit match offers, but released in smaller chunks and with higher release requirements.
  • Guaranteed tournaments – you will get to compete for the guaranteed prize pool regardless of the number of players registered for the event.

Of course, this is just a part of what the room has to offer in the promotions’ department. You will often come across game-specific bonuses or promotions accompanying particular series or events, dishing out freeroll satellite tickets, tournament entries, and much more.

Daily Spin the Wheel Promo

Up until July 4, 2021, all existing and newly-registered players at BetMGM Poker PA can take advantage of the interesting and quite generous Spin the Wheel promotion.

There are no special requirements to be eligible for this promo. After logging in, players should navigate to their Promotions’ section, where they will find a new spin awaiting every day.

There are eight spots on the wheel, seven featuring bonuses and tournament tickets, and once empty spot. Prizes up for grabs include:

  • $5 Spins tickets
  • $109 and $215 online tournament tickets
  • $5 and $45 online qualifier tickets
  • Hot cash bonuses ($5 and $10)

All prizes won from this promo have a short expiry window and must be used within 24 hours. Cash bonuses are cleared by playing in real money games and generating iRPs, and players have 48 hours after activating the bonus to meet the wagering requirements.

Sit & Go Leaderboards

BetMGM PA hosts regular Sit & Go leaderboards divided in two tiers: high and low. The high tier features a total weekly prize pool of $1500, while the low tear offers $500 up for grabs.

Players earn points based on their results in relevant real money six-max sit and go’s. You do not need to manually opt in for this promotion as points are calculated automatically for all players.

Tier Buy-ins Weekly Prize Pool
Low $1, $2, $5 $500
High $10, $20, $50, $100, $200, $500 $1500

Keystone Grind

BetMGM Poker PA regularly runs a monthly promotion aptly called Keystone Grind. This particular promo is designed to reward the loyal players, although almost everyone can take advantage of it as long as they play some poker on the site during the month.

Players are simply rewarded based on the total amount of iRPs collected during the month. The minimum amount required to qualify is just 100 iRPs, which is good for the $1 prize. However, there are a few dozen different levels with increasingly better rewards, with the top one being $6500 for those players who manage to accumulate 300,000 or more iRPs in the month.

Darren Elias the Brand Ambassador

BetMGM has signed up Darren Elias, a well-known name in the poker world, to represent the brand. This is an important development not just for BetMGM PA but the poker room’s presence in the US in general.

With four WPT titles, close to $9 million in live tournament earnings, and over $8 million in online winnings, Elias is a strong representative that can be a great contribution for BetMGM.

Banking

Banking

Safe & Reliable

BetMGM offers a number of completely safe and trusted options for the players to use to fund their online accounts. The number of withdrawal methods is somewhat limited at the time, but it is something that the operator will likely work on improving in the future.

It is important to note that all withdrawals are subject to an internal review procedure, so they are not processed immediately. The operator reserves the right to take up to five days to complete this process, but in most cases, it does not take nearly as long.

Adhering to all the laws and regulations, BetMGM PA requires players to complete the identity verification prior to making their first withdrawal as well. You will only be required to send a clear scan of your photo ID so most players will not experience any particular issues in this regard.

Here is the full list of banking options available at BetMGM Poker PA at this point in time:

Payment Method Deposits Withdrawals
ACH/e-check Yes Yes
Visa Yes No
MasterCard Yes No
PayNearMe Yes No
Discover Yes No
MLife Rewards MasterCard Yes No
Online Banking Yes Yes

The VIP Preferred (ACH) method is probably one of the best options you can use on the site. It is not only very safe, but it also allows for both deposits and withdrawals, making it super-convenient and hassle-free.

Rewards

Rewards
4.5
Unique offering

BetMGM offers a unique M life Rewards programs across all of its brands. It is a very rewarding system that offers more than just access to an electronic store or bonuses. Loyalty points can be used at all MGM-owned properties across the country for all sorts of perks.

All players are automatically entered into the M life Rewards program, so there is nothing special you need to do in this regard. Simply play in any real-money cash games or tournaments to improve your status.

As you play, you will earn two different types of points simultaneously:

  • iReward Points (iRPs)
  • Tier Points

Both types of points are initially earned at the same rate of 4.20 points for every $1 of rake paid in cash games or in tournament fees. However, they both have different roles.

iReward Points are a casino “currency,” which you can spend to purchase bonuses, cash, or Express Comps. Express Comps are used at land-based MGM venues to pay for food, accommodation, and other available amenities.

Tier points, on the other hand, are used to define your VIP level. There are six distinct levels and each new one unlocks special perks, such as boosts to your iRPs earning rate, priority hotel check-ins, access to valet and taxi services, and more.

Here’s a brief breakdown of the M life Rewards program and what you can expect from each new tier (every next tier includes all the perks from the previous ones):

Tier Credits Required Perks
Sapphire Zero to 24,999 Personalized offers & room discounts
Pearl 25,000+ 10% boost to the iRPs’ earning rate
Gold 75,000+ 20% bonus on iRPs, priority hotel check-ins
Platinum 200,000+ 30% bonus on iRPs, annual complimentary cruise
Noir By Invitation Only 40% bonus on iRPs, guaranteed reservations, limousine services

Tournaments

Tournaments
4.2
Solid schedule

While PokerStars PA remains the leader when it comes to big-field tournaments, BetMGM certainly has a nice selection of daily and weekly MTTs in its own right. For those who prefer somewhat faster action, there is also a solid selection of sit and goes.

Overall, if tournaments are your game of choices, you will not be disappointed by what the poker site has to offer. Naturally, traffic and schedules are better on weekends than on work days, but that is pretty much the fact across the online poker world, in the US and worldwide alike.

MTTs

BetMGM Poker PA has tried to create a spread of multi-table tournaments that caters to every bankroll. You will find events with buy-ins as low as $0.25 and as high as $535 running pretty regularly. On top of this, there are all sorts of freerolls that are either open to everyone or require players to meet certain conditions to be able to enter.

The biggest daily tournament you will find on the BetMGM schedule is the Daily 10K. Like the name suggest, the event features the guaranteed prize pool of $10,000 and the buy-in is $109. It is not what you would call a small buy in, but more serious players will appreciate having the ability to play a decently-sized tournament such as this on a daily basis.

The Sunday $40,000 tournament takes place once a week, on Sundays, and features a buy-in of $215. Of course, those who do not want to buy in directly can win their place in the tournament via numerous satellites. With the starting stack of 75,000 chips and 12-minute levels, the event offers plenty of quality play.

For tournament experts with a preference for faster-paced action and deeper bankrolls there are $535 Mega Tuesday Six Max events. The guarantee is just $12,000, which is not that much considering the buy-in, but you can expect the prize pool to grow much bigger, as this tournament is quite popular with the players.

BetMGM Poker PA also offers very popular Progressive Knockout tournaments (PKOs). If you have not had a chance to play these before, it is an exciting format where players’ bounties increase with every player they eliminate. It adds a whole new layer to the play as there is much more to think about than just winning opponents’ chips.

Tournament Series

End Boss Series: November 2021

Celebrating the arrival of Darren Elias as the brand ambassador, the operator is hosting a special End Boss Series, featuring seven events and offering PA players a chance to face off against the “boss” himself on the virtual fetl.

The series runs November 23 – 28 and below you will find the full schedule to help you plan ahead of time:

Date Event Prize Pool
Nov 23 $535 8-max NLHE $30,000
Nov 24 $215 8-max PLO $15,000
Nov 25 $320 Progressive Knockout $20,000
Nov 26 $215 Friday Night Freezeout $10,000
Nov 27 $535 6-max NLHE $35,000
Nov 28 $1060 Main Event $100,000
Nov 28 $215 Second Chance $20,000

Past Series

In March of 2021, BetMGM Poker MI announced their first tournament series in that state. Dubbed the Grand Online Series, it features a $100,000 Main Event with the buy-in of $109, which is quite respectable.

In August, the Pennsylvania Online Series runs August 15 – 22 and features a total of $220,000 in guarantees. The buy-ins mostly range from $109 to $535, but there is also the $20 Event #2, designed for those with smaller bankrolls who also want to get a taste of MTT action. On August 18, there is also a Pot Limit Omaha event, adding some variety to the proceedings.

In September, the partypoker US Network Series, which brings together players from BetMGM Poker PA and Borgata Poker PA, ran from September 19 – 26. There were10 tournaments in total, and the overall schedule was similar to the one from August.

BetMGM Poker PA brought back the series in October as well. This time around, it ran October 24 – 31, featuring ten events and solid guarantees, albeit somewhat lower than the ones from September.

Shared Liquidity

The matter of the interstate shared liquidity still hangs in the balance at the time of writing this. What happens next will largely be determined by legal developments surrounding the interpretation of the infamous Wire Act. Many operators are waiting for the decision on the matter so they could safely proceed with the creation of interstate compacts.

When it comes to BetMGM, the operator would certainly love to be able to share player pools with BetMGM Michigan and BetMGM NJ.

New Jersey already has interstate agreements with Nevada and Delaware so that would most likely be the first step.

As for Michigan, their online gambling law has been expanded to make it possible for poker sites to share liquidity across state borders when all legal obstacles have been removed. So, if and when the Wire Act dispute is resolved favorably, the state will likely join the Multi State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA), which current members are just New Jersey, Nevada, and Delaware.

Of course, this is all assuming that Pennsylvania joins the MSIGA as well. At this point in time, all indicators point towards that possibility.

SNGs

If you prefer a tournament-style play but without huge fields and having to stay glued to your computer of phone for several hours at the time, BetMGM Poker PA also offers sit and go tournaments. These play just like MTTs in many aspects but they start as soon as the required number of players registers and feature much smaller fields.

Bet MGM offers several types of SNGs in Texas Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha, namely:

  • Single table SNGs (10-handed and 6-handed)
  • 2-table SNGs
  • 3-table SNGs
  • 5-table SNGs

You will also find three different types of structures with regards to speed, i.e. blind level progression. Levels in regular SNGs last eight minutes, four minutes in turbo SNGs, and just two minutes in hyper-turbo sit and go tournaments.

Jackpot SNGs (Spins)

BetMGM PA also offers Spins, their own take on the popular Sit and Go jackpot format, where players can win up to 240 times their buy-in.

These are three-handed SNGs that go off as soon as all seats are filled up. The prize pool is then determined at random, and it can be anywhere from 2x to 240 the buy-in.

As of right now, BetMGM Poker PA offers the following Spins levels with corresponding top prizes:

Buy-in Top Prize
$0.10 $20
$0.25 $100
$1 $200
$5 $1000
$10 $2000
$20 $4000
$55 $11,000

Cash Games

Cash Games
4.1
For all bankrolls

BetMGM Poker PA offers a decent variety of cash game options. For the time being, the room is sticking to the most popular game types, so you will not find variations like Razz or Five Card Draw, but this is not something that most players will care for. Cash tables feature the following games:

  • Texas Hold’em (Limit and No Limit)
  • Pot Limit Omaha (PLO)
  • PLO8 (Hi-Lo)
  • Limit Seven Card Stud (and Limit Stud 8)

The site offers a decent breakdown of rules for each variation on offer as well, so players can learn the basics before trying their hand at new games. This is not something we would recommend (playing for real money after just reading a short summary of rules, that is), but it is still nice to have them handy.

As far as the stakes are concerned, BetMGM covers a great spread, from the popular micros (as low as $0.01/$0.02 for no limit and pot limit games) up to fairly high stakes of $25/$50. Limit Hold’em games run as high as $30/$60.

Game From To
NLHE $0.01/$0.02 $25/$50
LHE $0.02/$0.04 $30/$60
PLO $0.01/$0.02 $10/$25
PLO8 $0.01/$0.02 $25/$50
Stud & Stud 8 $0.15/$0.30 $5/$10

BetMGM PA also offers Fast Forward cash tables. These give you an opportunity to fold your cards whenever you want and immediately get dealt into a next hand. At the moment, the client allows up to four FastForward tables to run at the same time.

Software

Software
4.7
Top quality

As mentioned, the site is powered by the partypoker US Network. This means that BetMGM has access to the software developed and perfected by one of the biggest names in the online poker industry.

Those who have been around for a while probably know that the partypoker software had its problems in the past and it took the company a long time to pick up the speed. Luckily, these issues are now a thing of the past and the platform is now one of the best around.

It is important to note that, although BetMGM is technically part of the partypoker Network in the States, for all practical purposes, at least for the time being, this only means the room has access to the partypoker software. The only other state where BetMGM Poker is live is Michigan, and it will take some time still before the option of combining player pools across state borders become realistic.

So, the network is currently limited to individual states as far as player pools are concerned as every operator can only offer games in the particular jurisdiction they are licensed in. BetMGM Poker PA does not, at the moment, cater to players playing from any other states.

Reliability

Whether you play poker recreationally or grind in a serious capacity, there are very few things that can put you on tilt as the software freezing while you are trying to make a crucial decision or crashing on you during a deep tournament run.

You will experience none of this with BetMGM. While technical difficulties do happen every now and again, they are much more of an exception than a rule. The software is definitely very reliable and not prone to odd behaviors.

On top of it, the technical team working behind the scenes is usually very quick to fix any issues that do happen along the way.

Functionality

The software has been optimized for different operating systems. You can run BetMGM Poker on Windows and Mac computers alike, which is great news for many players. The ability to play on a Mac is especially important in the US as the number of Mac users among the general population is much bigger than in Europe.

The room also features mobile apps for Android and iOS devices so there are no restrictions in that department, either.
Players will also find a number of useful options in the client itself, allowing them to set things up the way they like and do what needs doing without too much trouble.

Appearance

The BetMGM lobby has certainly kept a bit of that classic feel, but that does not take anything away from the overall experience. If anything, it is a nice throwback to the past days of online poker and a “simpler” time.

Tables themselves offer a very nice and modern design without too much clutter. You will be able to focus on the action with no distractions, which is very helpful in avoiding dreaded missclicks, especially when multi-tabling.

The software does offer several different themes and many customization options, though, so if you want to add some color and glitz to the experience, you can easily do so.

FAQ

When did BetMGM Poker go live in Pennsylvania?

BetMGM Poker went live in Pennsylvania on April 27, of 2021, for a two-day, round-the-clock soft launch period. It became the second licensed operator to offer online poker games in the state.

What kind of a welcome bonus does BetMGM Poker PA offer to new players?

The welcome offer consists of two parts—a small no deposit bonus worth $25 in freeplay funds available to all registered and verified players, and a 100% match bonus on the first deposit awarding up to $600.

BetMGM Poker PA $25 No Deposit Bonus

To claim your $25 free at BetMGM Poker, all you have to do is register with the site and verify your account. Shortly after, you will receive a no deposit bonus consisting of:

  • $10 in cash
  • $15 worth of tournament tickets

First Deposit Bonus up to $600

New players at BetMGM Poker PA are eligible for the 100% match bonus on their first deposit up to the maximum amount of $600.

Bonus funds are released into the player’s real money account in 10% increments. Every time you accumulate 15 times the value of the bonus increment in iReward Points (iRPs), a portion of the bonus will be released.

If you were to claim the full bonus of $600, there would be 10 increments worth $60 each. As soon as you reach 900 iRPs, $60 is transferred to your real money account. Once this happens, there are no further wagering requirements or restrictions on this money.

What games does BetMGM Poker offer in the Keystone State?

BetMGM Poker PA features cash games, tournaments, and sit and gos. As for the game variations, players can choose from No Limit and Fixed Limit Hold’em tables, Pot Limit Omaha and Omaha 8 games, as well as Limit Stud and Stud 8.

In terms of stakes, BetMGM features cash games as low as $0.01/$0.02 and going all the way up to $25/$50. Of course, the traffic is always better at lower limits, but there is some higher stakes action happening as well, especially on weekends.

Does BetMGM Poker PA offer Fast Forward tables?

BetMGM PA offers Fast Forward poker tables. With this format, you do not have to sit idly during the hands you are not involved with and wait for the next round. Instead, as soon as you fold, you are moved to another table and dealt into the next hand.

PokerStars does not currently spread its fast-fold game Zoom because of liquidity issues. It has tried spreading it in the past, but games did not fill, so the operator removed them. With BetMGM being a new player in the market, only time will tell if their Fast Forward games will experience a similar fate.

Can players on BetMGM Poker PA play with players in New Jersey?

The company will likely do what it can to create a shared player pool between their brands as this is good for everyone. However, at this moment in time, there are legal constraints stopping them from offering their services across the border.

Whether BetMGM and other regulated US poker sites will create interstate compact in the future will depend primarily on the final interpretation of the Wire Act. If it is definitively ruled that online poker does not fall under its scope, the path will be paved for the creation of joined player pools between different regulated states.

What banking options does BetMGM Poker PA accept?

The operator offers a good variety of banking options for PA players. You can deposit to and withdraw from BetMGM Poker PA using the following methods:

Payment Method Deposits Withdrawals
ACH/e-check Yes Yes

MasterCard Yes No
PayNearMe Yes No

MLife Rewards MasterCard Yes No

Is BetMGM Poker software good?

BetMGM is a part of the partypoker US Network, together with Borgata and partypoker. Their software was built using a tried and tested platform and offers a very solid and reliable solution.

The table view is very clean and free of any distractions, which is quite useful when multi-tabling. There are no serious disconnect issues plaguing the platform, either, so players do not have to worry about getting randomly booted off the tables or getting timed out in the middle of an important decision.

Can players from Pennsylvania access BetMGM Poker via their phones?

BetMGM Poker offers mobile apps for Android and iOS devices and these are also available in Pennsylvania. Downloading the app is a bit of a process, though, and you need to be physically located in the state to do it.

  • Open a BetMGM Poker account from your desktop computer.
  • Use your Android or iOS device to navigate to the BetMGM site.
  • Log in with your account information.
  • Follow the instructions on the site to download and install the relevant app.

To play via mobile, you will need to enable geolocation services for the app. This is the protection measure in place to ensure only players who are actually in Pennsylvania can play on the app.

Who is BetMGM’s land-based partner in the state of Pennsylvania?

BetMGM has partnered up with Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course as their brick-and-mortar base of operations in the Keystone State.
