The newly launched FanDuel Poker took a heavy hit following its first-ever tournament festival, the Ignite Series, which ended with massive overlays across much of the schedule and reportedly forced the operator to contribute around $1 million to meet the advertised guarantees.
Despite absorbing that costly result and paying out roughly $5 million in total prize money during the series, the operator is not backing away from aggressive guarantees. In fact, it is doing the opposite by raising guarantees on some of its flagship Sunday tournaments.
PokerStars on FanDuel has boosted guarantees on its Sunday majors, including the signature Sunday Dynasty and Sunday Storm. The $100 buy-in Sunday Dynasty is receiving the biggest increase, jumping from a $75,000 guarantee to $100,000 for the upcoming Sunday edition. The decision follows a strong showing in the previous tournament, which comfortably cleared its former guarantee after attracting 931 entries and generating a prize pool of more than $85,000.
Apparently, one successful run above the guarantee was enough to convince the operator to take another leap. Rather than increasing the prize pool modestly to around $85,000 or $90,000, it has gone straight to a six-figure guarantee. The move signals that the operator is willing to embrace some level of risk and potentially tolerate overlays in order to establish its position in the market. A $100,000 guaranteed Sunday major also places it firmly alongside key competitors, and even ahead of some rival operators in terms of headline guarantees.

The $500 buy-in Sunday Storm has also received a guarantee increase, moving from $40,000 to $50,000. Last Sunday’s edition drew 139 entries, resulting in a prize pool worth more than $65,000.
Several other tournaments, however, are keeping their existing guarantees unchanged. The $30 Sunday Shield, for example, continues with its $25,000 guarantee. Last week’s edition attracted 951 entries, narrowly surpassing the guaranteed amount.
At the same time, the new look PokerStars US has tweaked its Nightly Cooldown tournament offering. Previously available as a single $100 buy-in event, the tournament has now been split into two separate versions running simultaneously. The main Nightly Cooldown now costs $150 to enter while retaining the same branding, and a new $50 Mini Cooldown has been introduced alongside it. Both tournaments carry guarantees of $10,000 each. Satellites into the $150 Nightly Cooldown are available starting at a $15 buy-in.
The operator has also rolled out a new Thursday tournament called Thrill. The event features a $300 buy-in and guarantees $25,000. A lower-stakes version, Mini Thrill, has also been added to the schedule with a $50 buy-in and a $12,500 guarantee.
Aces Cracked Promotion Returns
Meanwhile, the Aces Cracked promotion has returned as part of FanDuel Poker’s Thrill Mission within the Dynasty Builder rewards program. Under the promotion, players who lose a cash game hand holding pocket Aces at any point in the hand receive one entry ticket. Each player can earn one ticket per week.
Those tickets provide entry into a Sunday freeroll tournament that awards 25 seats to the $100,000 guaranteed Sunday Dynasty, representing $2,500 in total value.
The freeroll, called the Aces Cracked Dynasty Qualifier, takes place every Sunday at 5 PM ET. Late registration remains open through the first eight levels. The tournament generally attracts around 150 qualifiers, meaning roughly 16% to 17% of the field wins a $100 Sunday Dynasty ticket.
The promotion forms part of the operator’s Dynasty Builder rewards system, a poker-focused loyalty program designed around tournament rewards, digital collectibles, weekly rakeback, and other in-client incentives.
At the center of the system are two mission categories. Thrill Missions are recurring tasks that are easier to complete and reward players with tournament tickets, such as Sunday Dynasty, throwables, and other in-game features. Grind Missions, meanwhile, are volume-driven challenges tied to weekly rake generation. There are 16 Grind Missions available each week, with players able to earn as much as 25% rakeback depending on the volume they generate.
