The 2026 WSOP Main Event is officially fourth-largest in history.

The tournament ended up attracting 9,208 players and generating the prize pool in excess of $85,000,000!

Negreanu running deep in another high roller.

Can Daniel finish the series on the high? In his latest vlog, he is showing the ups and downs of another deep run in a $50k high roller, looking to close the summer with another win worth $2.2 million.

Check out David Lappin’s musings on shot clocks in poker tournaments.

Shot clocks have been a hot topic in poker for some time now as organizers try to find the best way to reduce stalling while not pushing the limits so fart that players don’t have enough time to think.

Lappin brings an interesting article based on his recent experiences and asks some important questions. If rules are in place and players agree to and abide by them, is there really a need to push further and come up with on-the-spot decisions that override the said rules and basically punish players for doing what they were told was fine?

Fun with straddles in the Main Event.

There is a first for everything. You can’t actually straddle in tournaments, but why not give it your best shot in the biggest one of the year, with fewer than 200 players left? It certainly helps spice things up.

Another bracelet attempt for Allen Kessler?

Once more, Kessler bagged a big stack in a mixed game event. Is this the one that breaks the curse? Stay tuned!

Do you know how to study poker properly?

It is one thing to want to get better at poker; it is another entirely to approach the process in the right way. Dan Smith shares some valuable tips on how to study the game and get the results you want.

The Grinder sharing his thoughts after busting the Main on Day 5.

It was a great run for the defending champ, but it is official now – we’ll have a new Main Event winner this year.

The Hard Rock guitar is coming along nicely on the Strip.

It could be a breath of fresh air in Las Vegas and maybe bring something different for all the poker players in the city, but let’s wait and see.

Caitlin Comeskey Main Event dream is still alive!

Caitlin made it through yet another day of the Main Event and she’ll be coming back for Day 6 action with 1.4 million in chips. There are fewer than 200 players remaining!

We have an unusually quiet exit from Phil Hellmuth.

No drama after cold bubbling the $50k No Limit Hold’em event. He’s not happy about it (who would be), but it seems Phil takes it on the chin and moves on.

It seems that every Main Event has to have its Will…

Will Kassouf did not make much noise whatsoever at this year’s Main Event, but it looks like there is another Will all set to take his place.

Alex Foxen really runs into it in the Main Event.

It was a super unlucky timing for Foxen as he runs into not one but two monsters, and his WSOP Main Event run is cut short.

Is this an idea for Phil Hellmuth’s next Main Event entrance?

Can you guess which famous poker pro is hiding under the Darth Vader mask?

July 10

Texas Mike is serious about winning the Player of the Year race.

There is no quit in this man, and he’s now sitting in the fifth spot on the POY leaderboard. Another deep run, and Mike could be in serious contention for the title.

Is this a tell or a mind game from Mizrachi?

'The Grinder’ just plays this game differently.

Phil Hellmuth is in a good mood.

Phil is with his son, Nick, as they’re both getting ready to play some more poker. Nick managed to make money in the Main Event, which will certainly help boost his morale moving forward. As for Phil, it’s on to the $50k No Limit Hold’em.

Jeremy Ausmus explains all you need to know about swapping in poker.

Swapping in poker – what is it, how does it work, what are the tax implications, and does it influence the integrity of the games? Jeremy Ausmus takes a deep dive into this interesting topic and explains some general rules and procedures and shares some of his personal experiences.

WSOP Main Event Day 5 live stream is up and running already!

533 players returned today to continue their journey in the Main Event, including several former Main Event champions. Tune in and follow the action as it unfolds!

Anuj brings some interesting stats for the 533 players who made it through to Day 5 of the Main Event.

It’s really interesting to see how the remaining field breaks down by countries/regions, and how many different countries remain represented deep in the tournament.

FanDuel Poker’s presence continues to grow.

Looking at the numbers, newly-launched FanDuel Poker could become the number one in the regulated US online poker market once the dust settles after the conclusion of this year’s World Series of Poker.

Day 5 is looming, and the defending champion Michael Mizrachi is still in the hunt.

Just over 500 players are left in the 2026 WSOP Main Event from the starting field of over 9,200. One of those who will be coming today is Michael 'The Grinder’ Mizrachi, last year’s winner. It’s a long shot, but Mizrachi still has a shot at defending his title.

Shaun Deeb talks about the POY race, his Main Event efforts, and more.

The summer series is getting close to its inevitable finish and Shaun Deeb is one of those players who turn up for all of it – and his results show it. Jeff Platt caught up with the man as he bagged in yet another tournament – and this time around it was at the end of Day 4 of the WSOP Main Event.

Daniel Negreanu gets off to a strong start in the $50k High Roller.

The Main Event adventure may be over for Kid Poker, but there is still more WSOP to come, and he’s in it to the very last tournament, battling for those bracelets, POY points, and the Fantasy leaderboard.

What an amazing picture of Chris Moneymaker bubbling the WSOP Main Event.

Ones to watch headed into Day 5 of WSOP Main Event.

Thanks for this @PokerLife!

How did we miss this beauty on Monday?

No notes.

Doug Polk breaking down some top stories from the WSOP Main Event.

Doug always puts out good videos, and this one rounds up the action at the Main, including his own hand reviews of his run.

However, Polk goes on to say that maybe one reason participation is down at this year’s Main Event is due to the fact that online gambling is now available in many states. This means people don’t need to travel to play live poker—they can do so from the comfort of home.

Just to remind everyone, online poker is only legal in a handful of US states, notably (New Jersey, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Michigan).

Anything else is grey-market at best, and I doubt it has any bearing on WSOP Main Event participation levels.

Check out all the biggest stories from the 2026 WSOP Main Event so far.

Doug Polk brings you a quick recap of some of the biggest stories from this year’s Main Event, including Mike Matusow’s exposed card controversy, the hand that ended Polk’s run in the big one, and more.

Micheal Mizrachi, Ryan Riess and Greg Raymer continue in the competition.

🫧 Chris Moneymaker in his own words, on bubbling the 2026 WSOP Main Event.

He ended up breaking even, so not all was lost. But as Chris says, he was still disappointed to bust, despite getting lucky in certain spots.

Wait, Caitlin Comeskey was fired from PokerStars?

Honestly, I thought her content for them back in the day was a great fit for the brand.

I don’t understand big corporations sometimes, but maybe all the layoffs at PokerStars and FanDuel played a part in scaling back their ambassadorships.

But now look. She heads into Day 5 of the WSOP Main Event. Let’s goooo!

No Day 2 entrant has ever won the WSOP Main Event… but that streak may not last much longer.

More players than ever are choosing to max late register on Day 2, a trend that’s accelerated dramatically over the past few years. If it continues, it may only be a matter of time before the first Day 2 entrant wins poker’s biggest title.

Here’s a look at how Day 2 late registration has grown over the years.

What would the 2006 WSOP Main Event look like in today’s money?

I shared this on X yesterday, and it’s a fun one to look back at.

The 2006 WSOP Main Event generated an $82.5 million prize pool. Adjusted for inflation, that would be worth roughly $130 million today, the equivalent of nearly 14,000 entries at the current $10,000 buy-in.

Here’s the WSOP Main Event in graphs and numbers.

If you enjoy digging into the data, I pulled together some of the most interesting stats from this year’s Main Event.

From the tournament’s entry numbers over the years to the day-by-day entry breakdown, first-place prizes dating back to 1970, and the Main Event’s incredible growth, these charts highlight just how much poker’s biggest tournament has evolved.

WSOP Main Event Day 4 is streaming live right now!

Tune in and join the action, no matter where you are. Day of the 2026 WSOP Main Event is underway, and with the bubble gone, players are now focused on accumulating chips and making it to the next day.

Ever wondered how much the WSOP makes from the Main Event?

The 9,208-player field generated an $85.63 million prize pool, but that’s not where the WSOP makes its money.

The tournament also brought in $6.45 million in entry fees. Of that, $1.93 million goes to dealers and tournament staff, while WSOP/NSUS keeps the remaining $4.51 million.

Last year, they collected $6.8 million in fees, of which a little over $2 million was paid to staff and dealers, and the remaining $4.7 million by WSOP officials.

The former champ becomes the bubble boy.

As luck would have it, Chris Moneymaker (alongside other two players) gets the dubious honor of bubbling the 2026 WSOP Main Event.

Feel the buzz of the Main Event bubble.

As the bubble of the biggest tournament in all of poker approaches, the excitement is palpable!

The Main Event bubble will burst early today.

There are only seven players remaining in the Main Event who’ll leave the tournament with nothing to show for it. Everyone else will get at least $15,000 for their efforts.

Surprise, surprise: the WSOP Main Event is becoming less American.

Remember when everyone expected the WSOP Main Event to become more American? The numbers continue to tell a different story.

The Main Event has actually gone from 66.7% American to 61.2% American in two years.

Players from outside the US accounted for 38.8% of the field this year, up slightly from 38.6% in 2025 and well above the 33.3% seen in 2024.

WSOP 2026 Main Event sees highest female participation ever.

431 women entered the 2026 WSOP Main Event, the highest in recent years and up from 369 in 2025.

Women’s representation also climbed from 3.79% to 4.68% of the field, another encouraging sign for the game’s biggest tournament.

Here are some interesting statistics as WSOP Main Event Day 4 gets underway.

Day 4 resumes in just a few minutes with 1,389 players still in the hunt. They’re just seven eliminations away from the money, with 1,382nd place guaranteed a minimum cash of $15,000.

Of the 1,389 remaining players, 786 are from the United States, representing about 57% of the field. The UK has 67 players remaining, while France and Canada are tied with 58 each. Japan, which saw a huge turnout at this year’s WSOP, still has 36 players in contention.

Stay tuned for more interesting statistics.

Texas Mike making a deep run in another small buy-in.

It seems like cards favor Texas Mike in all of the lowest buy-in tournaments, but he seems as motivated as ever to get to the final table and beyond, and continue climbing the ranks in the Player of the Year race.

In today’s vlog, Daniel Negreanu shares his thoughts on the latest Player of the Year debate and challenge’s Phil Hellmuth’s (un)popular opinion.

I’ll say, Phil makes a really good point about how for the average person the Player of the Year race is well out of reach.

Get yourself some Spin and Goal tickets at PokerStars on FanDuel.

It’s easy enough – look at the picture, put the pieces in their places, and figure out who the player in the picture is. Lucky winners will receive $5 Spin and Goal tickets on PokerStars on FanDuel.

The Main Event winner will pick up $10,000,000.

All the numbers are in, and we know that the eventual Main Event winner will walk away $10,000,000 richer. Everyone making it to the final table of nine will pick up seven figures, and the min-cash for this year’s Main is $15,000.

Is this one of the most epic celebrations in the Main Event?

It certainly has to be up there among the best ones, right?

Phil Hellmuth thinks the current POY system is not fair.

Phil takes a shot at Shaun Deeb, claiming that someone who loses money at the World Series of Poker shouldn’t be able to win the Player of the Year title. He explains that someone who isn’t able to throw money at large buy-ins doesn’t really have a chance to win, which makes the system unfair.

What’s your take on this?

Ausmus shares his thoughts on the slow play and high-stakes anxiety:

“You can feel everyone calculating every chip and every move, knowing one misstep could cost them a house.”

The video also highlights the psychological warfare between players, with some stalling and others trying to keep their cool. For those who think poker is all about luck, Ausmus shows just how much stress and strategy go into every hand when there is real money on the line.

Some big names are headed into Day 3 of the Main.

Feels like there will be a hell of an uphill battle to climb, as we already have strong communities on X, Discord and then there’s 2+2, and Reddit. But if anyone can do it, I am sure these guys can.

All is forgiven PokerGO. Many poker fans were surprised to learn that ESPN’s coverage of the WSOP Main Event isn’t free this year.

According to PokerNews, the ESPN App, which carries most of the early Main Event streams, costs between $12.99 and $29.99 per month. That didn’t sit well with some fans, who assumed the return of ESPN to poker meant a return to free broadcasts.

Omaha Productions, run by the Manning brothers, is handling production. Early rounds are only available via the ESPN App, while the final table will get cable airings on ESPN2 and ESPN. Some fans have even apologized to PokerGO for past complaints, now that ESPN’s paywall feels even steeper.

“I just want the game to grow,” said PokerNews Podcast co-host Mike Holtz, disappointed that the move could keep casual fans away.

Tiffany Michelle is a must-follow account, and I’ve been enjoying her WSOP updates greatly.

Doug Polk on all his WSOP Main Event runs to date.

Although Doug wastes no time on shilling his ClubWPT Gold code, he also gives us a look at all his WSOP Main Event runs, which date back to 2010.

Agree with Chad’s take here on Doug Polk stepping back from being the face of the Lodge.

Honestly, I wonder whether the risk of being so high profile, in a state where the law on card room is grey at best, became too much — especially as Polk has a young, growing family.

Even Daniel and Amanda Negreanu can’t easily find WSOP coverage.

So, over in the UK, we can access the WSOP live streams easily, but our colleagues in America are struggling to find WSOP Main Event coverage.

Same for Daniel and Amanda Negreanu. You’d think they would know how to access WSOP content (more than most) – but even they are struggling to find highlights without tuning into ESPN — (Amanda mentions this in the vlog).

Question: Have those in the US thought about using a VPN? 👀🤐

Unbagging chips for Day 2 of the Main is always a good feeling, no matter the count.

And having an average stack to start the day is certainly nothing to sneeze at!

This is probably the chilliest Negreanu’s vlog of the series.

Daniel is taking it easy, relaxing for Day 2 of the Main Event. No hand breakdowns or poker action in this one – just a man taking a well-deserved break before getting back to the grind.

Mike Matusow, never one to shy away from controversy, caught a one-round penalty on Day 2 of the WSOP Main Event.

According to PokerNews, the infraction came after he exposed one of his hole cards during a heads-up pot with Steven Ross. Matusow seemed surprised, protesting, 'We’re heads up, we can do that,’ only to be quickly corrected by the table and the floor.

Matusow left the table with about 75,500 chips, roughly half the average stack, forced to watch the action from the rail. When he returned, he broke the news himself, calling the penalty 'kinda bullsh*t’ and claiming ignorance of the specific rule. Ross, his opponent in the hand, apologized: 'I had no idea, man. I’m sorry.’

Not Matusow’s first brush with WSOP penalties, but definitely one for the highlight reel.

According to PokerNews, Pokerscope is pitching itself as the essential toolkit for the WSOP, offering real-time friend tracking, live hand logging, and a way for your railbirds to follow along from the comfort of their homes.

Instead of flooding your group chat with frantic updates and blurry photos of chip stacks, you can broadcast every crucial hand and session milestone in one clean feed.

Players can use tools like a hand note converter, built-in ICM and equity calculators, and even preflop drills, all designed to help you remember your big spots and maybe even play better next time. If you have a few backers sweating your action, the app tracks buy-ins and results automatically, so there are fewer excuses when you forget who owes what.

GGPoker is making July a bit more interesting for online grinders, giving away a combined $16 million in rewards.

Half of that $13 million will come from a wide assortment of leaderboards, with every game format covered: Spin & Gold, Rush & Cash, Hold’em, PLO, Short Deck, and more. The rest gets paid out via daily flipouts and special cash bonuses.

For tournament players, there is $3 million on offer through the Bounty Hunters Series and daily leaderboards.

Negreanu wins, Kabrhel snubs, Hellmuth parades: PokerNews looks back at one of the wildest days at the WSOP so far.

Daniel Negreanu claimed his eighth bracelet and gave an interview that is probably already a meme. Martin Kabrhel picked up his sixth bracelet but refused to shake hands, proving once again that sportsmanship is optional at the highest levels. Meanwhile, Phil Hellmuth’s entrance to the Main Event made more noise than some final tables.

The PokerNews Podcast brings a trio of female voices to the table to break down the 2026 WSOP.

Kyna England, Esther Taylor, and Caitlyn Comeskey join Chad Holloway for a chat that covers the Ladies Event, celebrates Kristen Foxen’s sixth bracelet, and runs through a string of notable women’s wins at the Wynn and Venetian.

Esther Taylor’s new role as BetMGM Ambassador gets a mention, as does the continued rise of women in open events. There is a sense that the panel is both celebrating progress and aware of the long road ahead.

The WSOP player of the year race continues its yo-yoing.

Alex Foxen is back on top, but everything could change.

🚨Doug Polk steps back from Lodge Card Club.

Doug has been the face of the Lodge Card Club for years. The announcement comes just two months after the club reopened following the high-profile raid that happened earlier this year.

Was the stress of the raid enough to make Polk step back? He remains an investor but will have no input into the management or daily running of the club.

That’s about $828,000 in revenue, up nearly $100,000 from April. The company hit all-time highs in both Pennsylvania and Michigan, even as the big three operators—WSOP, FanDuel, and BetMGM—continued to dominate with around 30 percent each.

Aaron Barone on max late registering the Main Event.

Some may not agree, but for a true poker fan or a young kid who fell in love with the game, this really rings true. Who wants to skip through so much of the Main Event just to gain a little bit of theoretical edge? If there is one tournament to play from the very first hand, it has to be the Main!
