US online poker traffic April 2026PokerStars has gone from the second- or third-ranked online poker site to a leader in US online poker overnight, the latest data reveals.

According to rankings on Poker Industry PRO’s new PRO DB platform, which aggregates data provided by SharkScope Analytics, PokerStars on FanDuel has led the US regulated online poker market since the first days it launched, pushing WSOP Online to second place.

It is a huge surge for an operator that was sitting far behind WSOP, and quite possibly BetMGM, just last month. That all changed when PokerStars moved its players over to the FanDuel sportsbook.

PokerStars on FanDuel, aka FanDuel Poker, is an entirely new platform, on software never seen before in North America. For the very first time for a PokerStars-branded online poker site, it combines the player pools across three US states — Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania — meaning more games, bigger tournaments, and a far more attractive offer.

According to the latest data compiled on PRO DB, FanDuel Poker’s big advantage is in cash games. It has averaged almost 300 concurrent cash game players since it launched on April 1.

To compare, this is far higher than the approximately 230 observed on BetMGM and 210 players on WSOP Online over the last 30 days. It is double that observed on BetRivers Poker, whose tracking from SharkScope Analytics started in early April.

In fact, it is very rare indeed for any site to report over 300 average concurrent cash game seats over a 30 day period. The only time in the last few years has been last summer, when both WSOP and BetMGM briefly crossed over 300 after taking advantage of PA shared liquidity.

Thanks to the new SharkScope tracking, the PRO DB data also includes MTT entries for the very first time, painting a much more comprehensive picture of global online poker traffic. By this metric, it is clear that WSOP Online is still the king of online poker tournaments.

In the last 30 days, WSOP Online has a daily average of 10,600 MTT entries, with BetMGM second with approximately 7,200. PokerStars/FanDuel is third with about 6,800. This is especially surprising given that, during this period, PokerStars has run its No Sweat freeroll series, the inaugural Sunday Million, and the first week of its flagship Ignite Series. Overlays are building for this festival. There’s certainly space for tournament traffic to grow.

PRO DB also provides a single ranking figure, called PRO Score, which takes a blend of both cash game figures and MTT entries. It uses global, industry-wide data to generate a weighting between the two metrics. By this figure, PokerStars on FanDuel leads the market — but it is very close. Its PRO Score today sits at 243, just ahead of WSOP (232), BetMGM (212) and BetRivers (158).

Although it does not lead by every metric, PokerStars will be very happy with its performance to date. The launch of the new platform has not been without its challenges; players have reported a variety of issues since its debut, including geo-location problems and software bugs. Much of this has been ironed out, but it wasn’t the smoothest first experience for former PokerStars players, who would have been very familiar with the old software.

In addition, every existing PokerStars player has to sign up for a FanDuel account, which certainly adds to the friction. There’s certainly incentive to do so (like taking advantage of a $1,000 welcome bonus, which is open to everyone), and there’s the built-in FanDuel sports and casino players, who easily move money over to poker. But it is still essentially a cold start, with all players needing to download new software and set new screen names, and many having to sign up and make fresh deposits.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from these numbers is just how close all four operators are in the increasingly competitive US online poker landscape. FanDuel leads by cash games; but WSOP still leads tournaments and is very likely to take the top spot this summer while WSOP 2026 gets underway and online bracelets are offered alongside.

Meanwhile, BetMGM still remains competitive in both cash games and tournaments, showing a surprising resilience against the big two.

And then there’s BetRivers, which, while sitting in fourth place, is perhaps the most important to watch. While ranked in last by both metrics, it still has strong liquidity in both, more than enough to run cash games and decent tournament series. It has grown 8% in the month, despite the new competition. And it has yet to enter the key New Jersey online poker market. Once it does — and it is expected imminently — it could certainly vie for the top spot in the market.

For PokerStars, it will be looking to consolidate its position and grow a consistent tournament offering to keep it at the top of the market. Ignite Series is a big spend for the operator and should attract a lot of tournament players; they’ll be looking to convert these players to their regular weekly schedule and build a strong foundation. Later this year, it could look to expand into additional US states — West Virginia being the most likely area for expansion — as it iterates on the platform and integrates more closely with the FanDuel sportsbook.
