Kid Poker Returns To #1
It didn’t take long for Daniel Negreanu (GPI#1) to return to the top. One week after falling to #2 for the first time in almost two months, Kid Poker returned to #1 on the GPI300 last week, moving past German star Ole Schemion (GPI#3) while Vanessa Selbst (GPI#2) moved up to a career-best #2 in the World.
Stammdogg Unstoppable
An incredible month of March culminated in Player of the Month honors for American pro Keven Stammen (GPI#46). Stammen’s five cashes in March included a prelim event win at the L.A. Poker Classic, a pair of cashes on the World Poker Tour, an 11th place finish at HPT California and culminated in a runner-up finish back home at the Queen City Classic in Cincinnati.
IPT Sanremo Final Underway, Selbst 2nd In EPT PLO
The EPT Sanremo kicked off with the presentation of the Italian Poker Tour’s Sanremo Main Event. The final table is already underway in Sanremo as former WPT Venice runner-up Alessandro Longobardi (GPI#385) and recent Macau Millions runner-up Jae Sim (GPI#225) are two of the final nine hoping to take home the € 137,100 first prize.
In other action at EPT Sanremo, Vanessa Selbst (GPI#2) finished second in the 5K PLO event over the weekend. Sadly, there were only 15 participants in the event so Selbst was unable to add to her score, as the event did not qualify for GPI points in either the GPI300 or EPT Player of the Year races.
Kirsch Leads At WPT Seminole Showdown
A massive 1,795-player field entered the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown in Hollywood, Florida as Richard Kirsch (GPI#1386) enters Day 3 play with the chip lead.
Over 1M USD awaits the winner as the final 114 players return to play on Monday. Matt Stout (GPI#53), Julian Thomas (GPI#399), Barry Hutter (GPI#251) and Ryan Eriquezzo (GPI#493) are some of the other big-name contenders near the top of the chip counts.
Final Set On WSOP Circuit In North Carolina
Only 11 players remain at WSOP Circuit Cherokee in North Carolina as Tripp Kirk (GPI#1417) leads the charge with his 2M chip stack.
Ralph Massey (GPI#1394) is also one of the 11 remaining participants. Massey enters final table play with a 755K chip stack … the winner of the event will take home over 200K USD.
Subiime Wins Latest Bellagio High Roller
Joseph Cheong (GPI#63) took down the latest Bellagio High Roller event on Friday. The 25K buy-in event drew over 20 entries, Cheong earned $295,500 for the first place prize.
“The Takeover” Nick Schulman (GPI#230) and Doug Polk (GPI#3764) are the other two participants who cashed in the event.
Hachem Goes Deep Down Under
Local legend Rocco Illumniato (GPI#124984) won the inaugural Poker SA Diamond Event in Adelaide, Australia on Sunday.
Illuminato defeated fellow Aussie Tom Grieve (GPI#12383) heads-up for the title while 2005 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Joe Hachem (GPI#968) finished third in the event. After a pair of cashes in California (including a 54th place finish at the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star) Hachem earned his third score of the 2014 poker season with his cash in Adelaide.
