Mahoney Owning In Australia
US pro Patrick Mahoney (GPI#851) earned the third six-figure score of his career winning the Main Event at ANZPT Perth in Australia.
The former LAPT Panama runner-up defeated Aussie Dean Blatt (GPI#1859) heads-up for the title. American Scott Davies (GPI#1003) finished third.
Houghton Wins WPT National London
Laurence Houghton (GPI#9079) earned the biggest paycheck in his career on the live tournament circuit, defeating Arvin Ravindran (GPI#57924) heads-up to win WPT National UK London.
A week after final tabling the SkyPoker UK Poker Championship, Charles “Chaz” Chattha (GPI#764) finished fourth here in London. 2010 Irish Open Champ James Mitchell (GPI#491) also final tabled the event.
Volpe Amongst LAPC Prelim Winners
Paul Volpe (GPI#15) continued to feel at home at the Commerce Casino outside Los Angeles winning the 5K prelim event at the L.A. Poker Classic, adding over 125K USD to his total earnings on the live tournament circuit. Volpe finished 2nd in the WPT LAPC Main Event last year.
Tyler Reiman (GPI#314), who finished fourth in the 5K prelim, won the Commerce Bounty Championship at the LAPC a few days prior to his 5K event score. Look for Reiman to jump back into the GPI300 later this week.
Ausmus Wins DSE Main Event
Vegas pro and former October Niner Jeremy Ausmus (GPI#65) won the Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza Main Event last week, defeating Scott Epstein (GPI#1264) heads-up.
Ausmus earned 120K USD and won a Tag Heuer watch for the victory.
WPT LAPC Heads To Day 3
Scott Blackman (GPI#2443) holds the overnight lead for the second straight day as the WPT L.A. Poker Classic heads into Day 3 play on Monday at Commerce Casino.
Recent WPT Borgata Winter Open runner-up David Paredes (GPI#63) also owns one of the top chip stacks heading into Day 3.
Four former GPI World #1’s have all made it to Day 3: Daniel Negreanu (GPI#1), Marvin Rettenmaier (GPI#3), Jason Mercier (GPI#4) and Dan Smith (GPI#6).
Looking For A Silver Lining In Dublin
The final at UKIPT Dublin is going down to the wire as – as of press time – Max Silver (GPI#70) leads three-handed play as we wait for a winner to be declared.
It’s been a good few months for Silver … the UK pro has collected Top 10 finishes at EPT Prague and the 2014 PCA Main Event.
Final Set At HPT St. Louis
Darryl Ronconi (GPI#390) carries the chip lead into final table play at HPT St. Louis later today at the River City Casino & Hotel.
2013 HPT St. Louis Champion Roger Campbell (GPI#1854), former HPT Iowa third place finisher Terry Ring (GPI#2790) and Soundgarden lead singer Chris Cornell (GPI#14217) are also at the final table.
Baumann Contends At Winamax Tour Grand Final
2012 WSOP October Nine bubble Gaëlle Baumann (GPI#1100) has one of the top chip stacks as the Winamax Poker Tour Grand Final is set to play down to a final table later today in Paris.
French pro Hugo Lemaire (GPI#1694) is another player from the lot of 53 that will compete during Day 4 play on Monday. The Grand Final attracted over 1,200 participants.
Gaviao, Birnbaum Chase Circuit LV Ring
Former WSOP Circuit Tunica Champ Jonathan Gaviao (GPI#1420) seeks his second Main Event ring later today at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas as the final 14 players play down to a winner.
Nancy Bimbaum (GPI#1108) is one of the other players still in contention in Vegas. Birnbaum owns three WSOP circuit rings of her own.
Play Continues At IPT Saint Vincent
Less than 30 players remain as we are set to play down to a final table at IPT Saint Vincent.
IPT Nova Gorica winner Marko Mikovic (GPI#2211) is amongst the contenders (at the time of this report) and is looking for a second straight IPT title.
Andrea Dato (GPI#323), Mihails Morozovs (GPI#89) and Dario Sammartino (GPI#47) are just a few of the other names still in contention as of press time.
