- Ohio’s mobile sports books received $724 million in bets in October, marking the second highest month since opening.
- DraftKings and FanDuel led the market, each claiming a 36% market share with $259 million in handle.
- BetMGM and Bet365 sit in the mid-tier, each holding a 6.3% market share with $45 million in handle.
Mobile sports books in Ohio took in $724 million in bets in October, slight growth on September and the second best month to date. With that said, it is far below the $1 billion in revenue generated in the market’s opening month last January.
The two lead operators remain neck-and-neck. Both DraftKings and FanDuel generated $259 million in handle in October to claim 36% of the market apiece. The pair have been in lockstep since the market opened. FanDuel generated slightly more revenue — $31 million vs $28.6 million — but the gap is narrow.
The middle six operators are led by BetMGM and Bet365, each bringing in $45 million in handle for a 6.3% market share each. However, while the former reported $2.6 million in net gaming revenue for a healthy 6% hold, Bet365 continues to report losses: It reported negative $1.7 million in NGR in October, a -4% hold; in other words, it paid a dollar and four cents for every dollar it collected in bets.
