Last month came the announcement that HM2, the next-generation of the popular online poker tracking and analytics software Hold'em Manager, was entering in to a public beta test, open to all existing users.
In alpha testing since early 2011 and announced back in June, version 2 is the biggest update to Hold'em Manager since it was first introduced. And there's certainly a lot to look at.
New features include a redesigned HUD, new reporting features, HM Sync to backup your hands online, social media features, companion apps for Apple devices - the list goes on. But is it any good?
In this in-depth preview, we'll be looking at all these new features, and we'll turn a critical eye on how this is all shaping up. Each week, one area will come under scrutiny. Today, were taking a look at the new replayer, HUD, note-taking, NoteCaddy support and HUD configuration.

Replayer

HUD and popups
HUD changes are one of the big upgrades in HM2. The HUD looks much cleaner, and the popups get a big revamp. One of the best new features is the new tabbed popup window that can be moved around and kept open as you play:

Notes, NoteCaddy and HUD Configuration
My personal fav – the new NoteCaddy integration is a big new innovation that on its own may justify the hassles and costs in upgrading. We also take a look at some of the changes to HUD configuration, and the (lack of) changes in the note taking window:
