- The Dutch Labour party (PvdA) has threatened to withdraw its support from new gaming laws unless the discrepancy in tax rates between live and internet gambling is resolved.
- The new laws, due to be implemented next year, establish a lower tax rate of 20% on internet operators. Land based casinos will continue to pay current rates of 29%.
- The PvdA is in coalition government with the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), and the final legislative stages of the new laws will need their support.
