- They have until the penultimate day of March to win passage for the next iteration of a poker and sports betting bill.
- Derrick Graham (D-Frankfort), Rachel Roberts (D-Newport), and Cherlynn Stevenson (D-Lexington) introduced HB 106.
- Like the three bills that came before it, HB 106 would allow online poker through standalone licenses.
Last year, after lawmakers in failed to pass a bill to allow online poker and sports betting in Kentucky, supporters vowed to try again in 2023.
Those supporters are now on the clock. They have until the penultimate day of March to win passage for the next iteration of a poker and sports betting bill — the fourth in as many years — in the Kentucky General Assembly.
Three Democratic lawmakers — Reps. Derrick Graham (D-Frankfort), Rachel Roberts (D-Newport), and Cherlynn Stevenson (D-Lexington) — on Thursday introduced HB 106, which at this time has no official title other than “an act relating to wagering and making an appropriation therefor.” The bill sits before the House Committee on Committees.
So far, HB 106 only has three Democratic sponsors, but the support is significant — last month, Kentucky House Democrats elected Graham as floor leader, Stevenson as caucus chair, and Roberts as whip.
