The “Draft Council of Europe Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions” has provided Malta with an opportunity to force a decision on the EU wide validity of its gambling licenses.
The Convention includes a definition of “illegal sports betting” which Jose Herrera, Malta’s Parliamentary Secretary for Competitiveness and Economic Growth, claims will hinder “the free movement of services within the EU.”
