Gambling legislation that included online poker provisions cleared its first hurdle last week as it passed the State House of Representatives by a vote of 123-32.
However, the original amendment was replaced with language that commissions the state to conduct further studies on the topic of online poker. The legislation which is expected to be passed by the Massachusetts State Senate and signed by the Governor Patrick, would “establish a committee to analyze and develop recommendations and model legislation” and also “include an analysis of applicable federal and state law.”
