It seems unbelievable that Europe’s most prestigious poker tour has never stopped in one of the continent’s most storied cities. While the European Poker Tour (EPT) from PokerStars had a regular stop in Deauville on the French coast until 2015, the French capital of Paris has never seen an event on the extensive tour.
That is all changing this week as players from around Europe and the world descend on the City of Love for the first time. EPT Paris gets underway on February 15, and there are events through Feb 26, with the series opening with the France Poker Series (FPS) and rolling into EPT events as the week progresses.
There are 39 events at this PokerStars tour stop, with two Main Events to shoot for. Early in the series, the €1100 FPS Main Event kicks off on Feb 16 for the first of three starting days, while the €5300 EPT Main Event gets going on the 20th with the first of two starting days.
For players looking for a cheap trip to the EPT Main, qualifier games are starting on Feb 17. The EPT Paris qualifiers are in milestone format, meaning players win a seat when they acquire a certain number of chips. There are freezeout and single-reentry formats, with the freezeout milestone set at 50k and the re-entry milestone at $100k.
