The BetMGM Poker US Network has rolled out exclusive online qualifiers for the Potomac Poker Open Championship, set to take place at the luxurious MGM National Harbor Hotel & Casino in Maryland next month.
Players can win packages to the esteemed event with a buy-in of $3000 and boasting an impressive $1 million guaranteed prize pool from August 7 to 13 on the BetMGM Poker platform. The best part is that these qualifiers start at an accessible entry fee of just $20.
These online qualifiers are currently only available to New Jersey online poker players and Pennsylvania online poker players — both states where Borgata Poker operates, sharing a player pool with sister skins BetMGM and partypoker (though partypoker is not present in Pennsylvania). As of now, there has been no announcement about a similar promotion for the BetMGM Michigan network.
- Up to $75 in MTT tickets on top of the bonus
- Frequent MTT series with good guarantees
- Combined player pools in Michigan and New Jersey
The qualifying process for the Potomac Poker Open Championship consists of two simple steps. Step 1 involves a $20 buy-in tournament, where successful players will advance to Step 2. Step 2 is priced at $100 and grants access to the final qualifier scheduled for Sunday, August 13, where one fortunate player will win a package valued at $5000.
The $5000 valued package includes a coveted $3000 entry into the Main Event, three-night hotel accommodation at the MGM National Harbor Hotel & Casino, and an additional $500 travel credit.
It is important to note that the packages won through the online qualifiers are non-negotiable, non-refundable, and non-transferable, ensuring a fair and transparent process for all participants.
The Potomac Poker Open Championship is part of the larger Potomac Poker Open series, returning to the magnificent MGM National Harbor from August 16 to 28. Spanning an impressive 13 days, this series features a diverse array of events, including live satellites.
The Potomac Poker Open series boasts over $2 million in guaranteed prize pools spread across 19 numbered events.

The highly anticipated Potomac Poker Open Championship event — the No-Limit Hold’em Main Event — is scheduled to run from August 25 to 28, with two Day 1s. With a buy-in of $3000, this marquee event guarantees a staggering $1 million in prize money, adding to the excitement and prestige of the series.
In addition to the Main Event, the series offers other standout events such as the $400 NLH Mystery Bounty Opener, featuring a guaranteed prize pool of $600,000 and a $3500 High Roller boasting a $100,000 in guarantees.
Players can also look forward to a variety of events catering to different preferences and bankrolls, including a $1500 NL Freezeout, a $200 Rookies event (open to players with less than $25k in Hendon Mob cashes), a $400 Tag Team, a couple of $300 priced Seniors events, and a $300 buy-in Women’s event.
The $400 Double Stack event is closing out the series, providing participants with one last shot at glory and riches.
For poker enthusiasts looking for additional opportunities to win big, organizers will also run daily $200 buy-in Nightly NLH events and satellites to high-profile tournaments, ensuring there’s something for every player.
This is not the first time online qualifiers have been introduced for the MGM National Harbor in Maryland. Back in 2019, Borgata Poker successfully ran online qualifiers for the property’s Spring and Summer Poker Open events as part of the East Coast Poker Tour. However, this year marks the first time as BetMGM joins forces with the popular Potomac Poker Open to host online satellites.
The Potomac Poker Open will be Maryland’s second series this year. MGM National Harbor hosted the Potomac Winter Poker Open in January-February featuring well over $1 million in guaranteed prizes spread across 16 events. With a buy-in of $2700, the Championship event drew 533 entrants, generating a prize pool of $1.27 million.
The online satellites for the Potomac Poker Open Championship run from August 7 to 13.
