WSOP Toronto 2025 Returning in April WSOP Toronto 2025 Returning in April

WSOP Circuit Toronto 2025 is set to take place this April—at least according to poker media veteran Kevin “Kevmath” Mathers, who spotted the information on Facebook. According to the post, the series will run from April 10 to 22 at Great Canadian Casino Resort.

While the venue has yet to make an official announcement, signs strongly suggest the event will go ahead as scheduled. Pokerfuse reviewed an Ontario poker group on Facebook, where an admin shared a banner confirming the WSOP Circuit Toronto with those exact dates.

It will be the second year in a row, that WSOP and GGPoker will be heading to Toronto, the capital city of Canada’s largest province where regulated online poker is available to support the WSOPC series.

Earlier this year, Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto announced GGPoker as the official sponsor of The Poker Room. As part of this partnership, the casino will serve as the exclusive venue for hosting WSOP tournaments in Ontario, including prestigious WSOP Circuit ring events.

While the official schedule has yet to be released, it is expected to be announced soon.

Last year marked the first time the WSOP hosted Circuit events in Toronto in partnership with GGPoker. The series ran for 11 days, from March 22 to April 1, featuring eight ring events with buy-ins ranging from CAD $250 to $3,500. The CAD $2,000 Main Event included three starting flights and boasted an estimated CAD $2.1 million prize pool.

The series ultimately awarded over CAD $5.5 million in prize money and attracted more than 6,000 combined entries. The Main Event alone drew 1,600 entries, generating a massive CAD $2.8 million prize pool. A total of 324 players won their seats online through both the GGPoker dot-com platform and ring-fenced GGPoker Ontario. Meanwhile, the CAD $3,500 High Roller event surpassed the $1 million mark in prize money.

Final prize pools exceeded the organizers’ initial CAD $3.9 million projection. The overwhelming response was fueled in part by the rarity of live poker events in Toronto. Demand was so high that most events sold out well in advance, and entry numbers could have been even higher if not for venue capacity constraints.

A similar schedule is expected this year, featuring eight ring events, including a CAD $2,000 Main Event. Prize pools are likely to surpass last year’s totals, though organizers will need to address previous concerns regarding capacity limitations and long registration queues.

The Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto, which opened in June 2023, is situated on the same property as the Woodbine Racetrack. It is the largest casino resort in Canada and one of the largest in North America. The facility opened a 30-table poker room not too long ago.

The resort spans 328,000 square feet of gaming space, offering high-limit table games and slot rooms, a 400-room hotel, diverse dining options, a wellness and fitness center, private event and meeting spaces, and a 5,000-seat theater. It also hosts a live entertainment venue in partnership with Live Nation.

“We are excited to partner with Great Canadian to elevate the poker experience in Toronto,” said Sarne Lightman, Managing Director of GGPoker in a press release. “This partnership will combine the best of live and online poker, offering players premier tournaments, unmatched rewards and solidifying Ontario as a hub for world class poker.”

WSOP Circuit Toronto 2025 Online Qualifiers

With GGPoker now the official sponsor of the resort, online qualifiers are expected to return, potentially offering even more opportunities for players to secure their seats. These qualifiers will likely be available on both the global GGPoker platform and GGPoker Ontario, which serves Ontario online poker players exclusively within the province.

The online satellites could launch at any time. Last year, they were available from buy-ins as low as CAD $1. Over 300 players won their way to the Circuit through these satellites.
