PokerStars - Danny Maxwell

There just days to go until the 45th Irish Poker Open gets underway in Dublin, Ireland. Action will start on April 10 and run for 12 days straight and the event is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever.

There are an extra four days of action on the schedule, €4.5 million in guarantees and twice the number of tournaments running than last year — which was the biggest year on record for the live poker series. Multiple events have been expanded into two day tournaments, guarantees have increased and events supporting ladies-only and deaf communities have been included.

For the first time in 10 years the Irish Open live stream will show coverage of Event 50, the €250 Ladies Championship.

Live coverage of the Ladies Championship will start on Day 2 of the tournament, airing on April 17 and will mark the start of live coverage for the entire Irish Open event. Main Event coverage will also be provided, but showcasing the Ladies Championship as a way to open the live stream for 2025, shows the support organizers want to give this event.

Despite no live coverage (as far as we know!) a stand out event that needs shouting about is the Irish Open Deaf Championships hosted by Darren Chow, the official Irish Open Deaf Championship Ambassador. The event starts on Day 1 of the live series, April 10 and features a buy-in of €200.

This year the schedule is all about the high rollers Seven high roller events are scheduled: one a brand new €10K, €500,000 guaranteed Super High Roller along with a two day Seniors high roller, NLH, PLO high rollers and a Mystery Bounty high roller also making up the schedule.

Due to the massive numbers of entrants last year three events have been turned into 2 day events so that more players have a chance of entering.

  • The €250 “THMC” The Hendon Mob Championship will now play out as a two day event on April 15 & 16. Last year it held the title of the largest side event ever held at the Irish Open, until the €200 Mini Irish Open, blew it out of the water in the same year.
  • The €350 America’s Cup Championship will take place between April 17 & 18, now running as a two day event.
  • The €550 JP Poker Masters Championship has also been increased from a one day to now a two day event and is a fan favorite at the tournament.

The organizers of the Irish Poker Open have also doubled the capacity on the €350 Heads-up Championship (Event 33) that starts on April 15. Organizers suggest registering in advance to play this event via the PokerStars Live App or Luxon Pay app.

Until April 16, players on PokerStars can qualify online for the Main Event. This year the Irish Open Main event has a €2.5 million guarantee, up from the usual €1 million, thanks to the stellar performance of 2024. There are five starting flights including a Day 1e turbo: action kicks off on April 13. The Mini Main also sees a bumper guarantee of €1 million, double that from last year. Action starts on April 10 and the event features a buy-in of just €250.

The Irish Poker Opens runs April 10 to 21 at the Royal Dublin Society in Ballsbridge, Dublin. The full schedule can be found here.
