WSOP 2025: Online Bracelets Stumble, But Live Events Head for Another Record WSOP 2025: Online Bracelets Stumble, But Live Events Head for Another Record

Four weeks into the WSOP 2025, the live bracelet events are tracking slightly ahead of last year, but the same cannot be said for the WSOP online bracelet events running in parallel.

Surprisingly, turnout for WSOP Online events is down year-over-year, despite the expansion of the player pool to include Pennsylvania. The network now spans four states: Nevada, New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, yet the added liquidity has not translated into bigger fields.

While this year’s schedule differs slightly, a look at comparable events from last year reveals a clear decline. The $888 NLH Crazy 8’s, for example, drew 920 entries this year for a $736,000 prize pool, a steep drop from the 1,366 entries and over $1 million awarded last year, nearly a 50% decrease.

The $333 NLH Triple Treys event also saw a notable dip, pulling in 2,118 entries and generating $635,400 in prize money, compared to 2,714 entries and $814,200 last year, down 22%. The $1,000 NLH Freezeout declined even more sharply, with entries falling from 824 to 533, a 35% drop.

The $1,000 NLH 6-Max event saw a more modest decline, with 1,107 entries this year versus 1,233 in 2024, a 10% decrease. The $400 NLH Ultra Deepstack fell from 2,238 to 1,989, a drop of 11%. Only the $600 Monsterstack has remained consistent, drawing 1,777 entries last year and 1,781 this year.

The lone bright spot so far is the $3,200 NLH High Roller, which posted a slight increase year-over-year. This year’s edition attracted 444 entries and built a $1.3 million prize pool, up from 409 entries last year, a 9% gain.

Given the expanded player pool this year, one might have expected stronger turnout for the online bracelet events, but that has not been the case. While WSOP PA did not contribute massive fields, it still added roughly $90K to $100K in prize money per event. Even so, overall numbers are down compared to last year.

At the time of writing, 14 online bracelet events have concluded, generating a combined total of nearly $12 million, averaging about $850k per event. One event: Event #7: $250 Mystery Bounty was cancelled on Day 2 due to technical issues. The tournament had drawn 7,623 entries and amassed $1.7 million in prize money, setting a record for a US online bracelet event in terms of total entries. Players were refunded and compensated.

If we include that cancelled event, the series has so far generated $13.5 million across 15 events, with an average of $905k per tournament.

The online bracelet series kicked off on May 31 with Event #1: $400 NLH Kickoff, which drew 2,206 entries and generated a $794,160 prize pool. That is a notable improvement over last year, when the same event had a higher $555 buy-in but attracted just 1,544 entries for a $772,000 prize pool.

Event #2, a $555 Mystery Bounty with a $1 million guarantee, also did well with 2,551 entries and a prize pool of over $1.27 million, one of just three tournaments so far to cross the $1 million mark.

Still, compared to previous years, the online bracelet prize pools are noticeably lower, where they once regularly averaged over $1 million, many are now falling short.

Fifteen online bracelet events are still to come, and it will be interesting to see whether turnout improves in the second half of the series. Historically, participation tends to rise during this period as it overlaps with the $10,000 WSOP Main Event.

Live Numbers Climb Higher in Week 4

On the other hand, live events are clearly outperforming last year’s numbers. While the first three weeks of WSOP 2025 showed modest gains over 2024, aided by more starting flights, increased re-entry opportunities, and fewer freezeouts, Week 4 delivered a big surge. In fact, every tournament held during this period exceeded its 2024 turnout, setting the stage for what could be another record-breaking summer.

The $1,500 Millionaire Maker, which added an extra flight this year, drew 11,996 entries compared to 10,939 last year. The $10K H.O.R.S.E. grew to 207 entries from 181, while the $500 NLH Freezeout jumped from 3,485 to 5,082, a 46% increase. The $5K NLH 6-Handed also saw a big jump, from 817 to 1,168 entries (up 43%), and the $1,500 Lowball Triple Draw drew 635 players, compared to 574 last year.

Combined, these events brought in 24,868 entries, up 16% from the 21,443 recorded in 2024. They also generated $55 million in prize money, a 10% increase over the $50 million awarded in the same events last year.

Week 4:

  • 2024 Attendance: 21,443
  • 2025 Attendance: 24,868
  • Change: +15.97%

When combining all events held so far, overall attendance is up 4% compared to the same tournaments in 2024, while the total prize pools are seeing a 2% increase.

Through the first four weeks of the series:

  • 2024 Attendance: 107,130
  • 2025 Attendance: 111,793
  • Change: +4.35%
  • 2024 Prize Pools: $225.5M
  • 2025 Prize Pools: $230M
  • Change: +1.99%

If the momentum continues, the WSOP 2025 Main Event could once again break attendance records, which would mark the third straight year of record turnouts. Last year’s Main Event drew 10,112 players.
