Poker professional Tom “hitthehole” Middleton bested the near-record field of 1,234 at the PokerStars 2013 EPT Barcelona Main Event this past Saturday for the massive €942,000 ($1,241,650) first place prize, the trophy and the title of champion.
It was a career score for the UK’s Middleton, who is well known for his success over the years in the online arena, amassing nearly $2M in online earnings. Now, with this victory, he soars to over $2M in total live earnings as well.
Season 10 of the EPT finds itself off to a great start. In addition to almost besting the current record field ever held by a non-PCA EPT event, PokerStars notes that over the course of the event there were 9000 entries total—almost double the amount that participated last year—and 3200 unique players. A very healthy €17M in prize money was awarded as well.
With Barcelona in the books, the EPT marches forward and returns to London on October 2-12. For more information on the EPT, visit their official website.
