The European Poker Tour (EPT) announced today that it will kick off Season 11 of the EPT in Barcelona by staging Europe’s largest-ever poker festival in celebration of its 100th event.
PokerStars’ EPT and their partner, the Estrellas Poker Tour, will be teaming up once again from August 16-27 at the Casino Barcelona to host a historic poker festival that organizers expect to shatter all previous prize and attendance records.
“The EPT was born in Barcelona so it’s very fitting to celebrate EPT’s 100th event in true style and with unforgettable poker,” said EPT President Edgar Stuchly.
The first hand of an EPT tournament was held way back in September of 2004 as a part of the Barcelona Open. Since that time the popular tour has registered over 180,000 players in 16 difference countries and has created 39 millionaires to date.
“EPT Barcelona is one of the most popular tour stops and attracts players from all over the world for the fantastic mix of beaches, iconic architecture, party atmosphere and world class poker,” Stuchly concluded in the press release.
In anticipation of additional attendance, the EPT is increasing their capacity by an extra 20 tables with hopes that player fields with beat last year’s records.
