Well-known poker pro Sam Trickett walked away the winner of PartyPoker's inaugural Road to Old Trafford event held at home of internationally known football club Manchester United this past weekend.
Trickett, who is used to playing the highest of stakes and currently sits second on the All-Time Money List, bested 169 players in the special tournament which, in addition to cash prizes, offered the opportunity to win signed merchandise and other prizes.
Trickett, already known for his generosity, promptly made a donation to the Rio Ferdinand’s Live the Dream Foundation Charity with some of the £10,000 he received for taking first place.
A once semi-professional footballer himself, Trickett took up poker when a knee injury derailed his aspirations on the pitch. Trickett is expected to participate in The Big Game VII set to take place this week.
