PokerStrategy made a fortune monetizing a learning community of poker players; now a new forum is launching with its own twist—the best contributors get paid.
The site is now in beta, but will move to a subscription model upon launch. Most of the money raised through subscriptions will be distributed back to members each month. A “karma” system will allow members to mark each post with an up or down vote, and the monthly prize pool will be distributed to posters garnering the most up votes.
Members who share useful advice will benefit from the cash prizes, while other members get the benefit of that advice.
The new Q&A site on grindhero.com will have two sections focused on answering the most important questions posed by players: a strategy section, to discuss all forms of poker strategy, and a section devoted to other matters like technical problems, software support and other off-topic discussions. Prizes will be awarded for contributions in the strategy section of the site.
Video hosting and a private coaching will also be available as the site develops. Grindhero is not hiring professionals—“it is a social educational site, where users are in the center making all the decisions.”
