PartyPoker Behind Webcam Poker Experiment on Google+ Hangout

A new project that looks to combine play money poker and webcams using Google+ Hangout has been funded by online gaming giant bwin.party.

Designed by the web design team Hettema & Bergsten, the project uses the API of Google’s new social network, Google+, to combine it’s video conferencing tool named “Hangout” with online poker. Although still in development, an early heads-up only version is available to those with an invite. According to a report on popular tech startup blog TechCrunch, the project is backed by the bwin.party group.

Of course, online poker with webcams is nothing new. Perhaps most notable is 888poker, with webcam support for real money games since February and further promoted with the recent Poker Lounges launch. PokerView was also one of the first to popularize the idea, although since its switch to the Merge Gaming network, it seems this feature is no longer available.

Invites can be requested from aceshangout.com, and a video showing the project is embedded below.
