The battle for the top spot in global cash game rankings has been hotly contested the past few weeks, with PokerStars and GGPoker swapping the number one position on multiple occasions.
As per the latest numbers compiled by GameIntel and available on the PRO Data platform, PokerStars’ seven-day moving average recorded 5168 concurrent cash game seats, just enough to put GGPoker back into second place.
The two networks have been jostling for the number one spot ever since GGPoker dethroned PokerStars to become the world’s newest largest online poker room in June. It was the first time in fifteen years PokerStars lost its crown to a regulated operator and the first time its traffic dipped below 5000.
While GGPoker enjoyed the lead for a month, PokerStars fought back from its lowest point to push GGPoker to number two position again.
Since then it has been neck-and-neck with GG. Over the last ten days, PokerStars has maintained the lead but the difference between the two is a mere 50 seats, less than 1%.
