Progressive knock-out (PKO) tournaments have been increasingly popular in recent years, with all major online poker sites like 888poker, PokerStars, and GGPoker running them as part of their daily schedule and even throwing entire series revolving around the PKO format.
888poker has announced some great news for the lovers of PKO tournaments this November, as their three Sunday PKOs will have significantly boosted prize pools throughout the month. The promotional campaign is dubbed “Triple Threat” and it will see all three tournaments offer a lot more in prize money for the exact same buyins.
To make things even more interesting, 888poker is throwing in an extra cash prize for players who manage to make the money in all three Sunday PKOs. A cash prize worth $1,000 is up for grabs for this feat, which certainly does not seem too difficult to obtain.
The three PKO tournaments are:
- $11 buyin – $15,000 PKO Triple Threat (Up from $8k Guaranteed)
- $22 buyin – $25,000 PKO Triple Threat (Up from $15k Guaranteed)
- $55 buyin – $50,000 PKO Triple Threat (Up from $20k Guaranteed)
The significant boosts in guaranteed prize pools means more entries as well, and the first batch of Sunday tournaments managed to attract thousands of entries who shared in the bounties and the guaranteed prize pools given away by 888poker.
To make things even more attractive, the operator is giving away dozens of entry tickets for each of the Triple Threat tournaments through Freerolls happening on Friday evenings, with tickets given away for the upcoming Sunday.
888poker Continues to Attract Tournament Players
888poker has been one of the most appealing online poker sites for tournament players since the early days of online poker, and the operator continues to make efforts to attract tournament aficionados and create an atmosphere in which they can thrive.
Just recently, 888poker upgraded its weekly tournament schedule, increasing the weekly guaranteed prize pools by $500,000 and making other changes to the tournaments such as paying out a bigger percentage of players, decreasing the run times, and adding more low buyin tournaments to the schedule.
888poker’s daily schedule is made up of a number of branded tournaments such as the Voyage, Dash, PKO Rumble, 6-Max Mayhem, and most importantly The Big Shots, which offer the biggest prize pools of the daily and the big Sunday schedules.
Back in April, when 888poker amended their tournament schedule, the room gave away $200,000 in tournament tickets through various promotion, all as a part of their continuing effort to attract tournament players and maintain the status of one of the greats in the online poker industry.
Poker Tournaments Continue to Evolve
Poker tournaments have certainly changed a lot since the early days, with the PKO format being one of the major directions in which big online poker sites have been going as of late. Just recently, PokerStars ran an entire Bounty Builder Series, which gave away $30 million in prizes through 200 knockout events.
On top of that, PokerStars has been running bounty sit & go games on the site as well, which were recently rebranded as Neymar Jr. Kick Off, putting their world-famous football superstar ambassador to work.
Other online poker giants like GGPoker have also been at work revolutionizing tournament poker, with PKO tournaments becoming a part of their daily routine, and recent changes to their Flip & Go format including the addition of Double Flop feature to each game.
888’s Triple Threat tournaments run every Sunday this month.
