Barely a week after successfully completing its 50/50 Series, PokerStars Ontario is back with yet another treat for all fans of tournament action. This time around, the operator is hosting a Bounty Builder Series, promising plenty of hot action at the tables.
Running Feb 18 — March 6, the series features CAD $700,000 in guarantees across the board, with all events played in the popular PKO (progressive knockout) format. This means that players will have ample opportunities to cash in on their efforts even if they cannot reach the late stages of an event.
For this one, PokerStars Ontario offers a wide range of buy-ins, with some events being as cheap as $5 to enter. On the other side of the spectrum are high-roller tournaments with a $1000 price tag, and there are plenty of options in between, with 100 tournaments in total.
PokerStars ON Bounty Builder Series Highlights
Dates | Feb 18 – March 6 |
Total number of events | 100 |
Total GTD | CAD $700,000 |
Main Event GTD | $75,000 |
Non-Hold’em events | 14 |
$75,000 up for Grabs in the Main Event
As with most tournament series, the Main Event will be the one to win, offering a guarantee of $75,000 for the $200 buy-in. The tournament is scheduled toward the end of the series and takes place on March 5.
Since the Main Event features the PKO format, $100 from every buy-in will be added to the bounty prize pool, meaning that every elimination will be worth at least $50. As the tournament progresses, bounties will increase in value, as 50% of each bounty is added to the bounty value of the player who scored the elimination.
The tournament will offer plenty of play, featuring a slow structure with a starting stack of 50,000 chips and 15-minute levels to begin with, increasing to 20 minutes later on. Every player is allowed up to five reentries during the late registration period, which lasts almost four hours.
The PokerStars Ontario Bounty Builder Series Main Event will be one of the most valuable tournaments on the schedule, and there could even be some overlay. However, the full schedule features 100 tournaments, so there is much more action in the cards.

Bounty Builder Series Overview & Highlight Events
The new series begins on Saturday, Feb 18, with nine tournaments on the docket for the day. After that, there will be at least four events taking place every day, with weekends, and especially Sundays, featuring more tournaments.
The $100 Series Kick-Off on Sunday features a guarantee of CAD $10,000, while those with smaller bankrolls can get involved with the $5 Bounty Builder #8, a tournament with a modest guarantee of $1400, but this number is likely to be shattered.
The great news for all fans of non-Hold’em games is that the schedule features a variety of games and formats, so you will have your pick. Besides the usual suspects like PLO, there are also No-Limit Omaha tournaments, 8-game, and HORSE events, 2-7 Single Draw, 5 Card Draw, and even Courchevel.
In terms of buy-ins, there is also a nice split, as about half of the tournaments feature a buy-in of $30 or below, while the rest are in the $50+ category, meaning the Bounty Builder Series is open to everyone.
Besides the Main Event, the biggest guarantee is offered by Event #15 on Sunday, Feb 19. With a buy-in of $100, that tournament comes with a promise of $40,000. High-rollers will have their day on Feb 26, when the $1000 Event #52 takes place, featuring a guarantee of $35,000.
Lower buy-in events come with more modest guarantees, but there are four $50 tournaments guaranteeing five figures, and these seem to strike just the right balance between the entry fee and prize pool.
The next few weeks will be a real treat for all PKO fans at PokerStars Ontario, including those looking to test their skills in non-Hold’em variations!
