It has been a few years, but the PokerStars LIVE EUREKA Tour is returning to Hamburg, Germany. Starting September 26, poker players worldwide will head to the German city for eight days of poker action from EUREKA Hamburg 2023.
This is the first time the EUREKA Tour banners have flown in Hamburg since September 2016, though parent company PokerStars has returned to the city a few times with different flags.
In 2017, with all regional tours rebranded as PokerStars Festivals, the operator hosted a festival similar to the previous year’s EUREKA event under new banners.
Last year, PokerStars returned to Hamburg for the €400 buy-in Road to PSPC, which had more than €300k in total prizes and gave away a Platinum Pass to the winner, good for entry into the iconic $25k PokerStars Players Championship.
Now, with the Festival banners all rolled up in storage, the EUREKA ones will be back on display this September in the German city.

Revamped EUREKA Tour Is Hot
Since the end of the COVID-19 restrictions and the resurgence of the live poker scene, PokerStars has been doubling down on the return of its regional tours. Along with the recent, much-heralded return of the UKIPT, the EUREKA Tour has also seen some exciting news since the pandemic.
The European regional poker tour returned strong in March 2022, with a massive event in Prague that saw 3155 entries for the €1100 Main Event. It was a massive tournament run with EPT Prague and PokerStars Team Pro member and Argentinian rapper Alejandro “PapoMC” Lococo took down the most significant share of the €3,028,800 prize pool.
Prague seems to be the stop of choice in the revamped EUREKA Tour, with the December 2022 edition seeing more than 4000 entries and a prize pool of €3,856,320, but several other recent stops have seen Main Event fields of more than 1000 entries.

Hamburg Poker History
Hamburg has a long history of its own with PokerStars Live Tours. The most recent game in the German city was a Road to PSPC event in September 2022. It saw €306,294 in total prizes for the €400 Platinum Pass event.
Before that, the last series held in Hamburg for PokerStars was a PokerStars Festival-branded event in 2017 that got 567 entries, while the previous EUREKA-branded event got 367 entries in 2016 and was won by Dinesh “NastyMinder” Alt.
The latest edition of EUREKA Hamburg runs at Casino Schenefeld. Just a short drive from the city center, the venue hosted an 877-entry field in the recent Road to PSPC event and is well-positioned to host the series.
Satellites to EUREKA Hamburg will start on PokerStars soon, so watch the client for your chance to get into the series for cheap. Traditional online satellites will be available, but players might have another way to get in with PowerPath, PokerStars’ exciting new way for players of all skill levels and experience to qualify for major events.
Watch out for the chance to win tickets, and start planning your return to EUREKA Hamburg in late September.
