Some smaller bankrolls on 888poker got a little bigger recently after more than $525k was awarded in total prizes across the fan-favorite ChampionChip Series from October 22 – 31. Over 22k entries were recorded across the 29 sporting-themed events geared at low-stakes players.
Starting on October 22, 888poker welcomed the return of its signature low-stakes tournament series, ChampionChip. This year’s seventh running of the series saw bargain-basement events ranging from $3.30 – $60.00 with guarantees as high as $200k.
The biggest game in the series, by nearly all objective measures, was, fittingly perhaps, the $200,000 Main Event Mystery Bounty. Event with nearly 3,600 entries. The big game missed its $200k guarantee by almost $21k. That still left it the biggest prize pool of the whole series, and more than $35k in collected fees more than made up the shortfall.
Outside of the massive field in the multi-flight Main Event, there were five other games in the series that saw five-figure field sizes. Only three of those games hit the guaranteed prizes, but Event #2: $5000 Flags Parade Mystery Bounty for $7.70 was the best-performing one of the whole series in terms of increased prize pools.

Six ChampionChip Games Attract 1000 or More Players
It was another series to remember for low-stakes players on 888poker with the 2023 Fall ChampionChip drawing to a close on Halloween day. More than 22,000 hopefuls were in the running for prizes that topped $525k across the main numbered events and all the branded side games underway.
While the monster Main Event just missed its guarantee, by pretty much every other measure, it was the behemoth in the bushes. At $60, it was the biggest buy-in of the series; the $200k guarantee was like an elephant in an anthill compared to the rest of the prizes, and it crushed the biggest field with almost 3600 total entries.
Even the collected money, which was about 10.5% below the guarantee, still dwarfed the next biggest total prize pool by more than five times. The $200,000 Main Event Mystery Bounty was the marquee event of the series by pretty much any objective measure.
Main Event successes aside, there was a lot of other action worth mentioning in the series. The opening day was huge, with the second-biggest guarantee and the best-performing game of the series both kicking off the festivities.
While the $5000 Flags Parade Mystery Bounty took down the top prize for the biggest increase over the guarantee with $7k collected for a $5k guarantee, a 40% bump, the $25,000 Opening Ceremony Mystery Bounty did pretty well, too. It came in third on the extra prizes list, with $31,800 collected for an increase of 27.20%.

There were a total of six games that cracked the five-figure field mark, though it should be noted that the multi-flight Main Event crushed all other fields by nearly a factor of three. Even with 3581 runners, the game didn’t quite hit the optimistic $200k guarantee, falling just short with $179,050 collected for a 10.48% overlay. The $35,810 in fees collected from the Main Event entries still made the game an easy net profit for the operator.
Overall, it looked to be a great series that had something for nearly everyone. The players got to take advantage of some great prize pools and overlays at very low prices while the operator pocketed a net profit on the games, even with overlay factored in.
