- PokerStars’ inaugural Sunday Million Mystery Bounty tournament attracted over 16,000 entrants and surpassed its $1 million guarantee by 62%.
- A single top bounty of $50,000 was secured in the initial hours of the tournament, with other tiered bounties claimed throughout the event.

The first-ever Sunday Million Mystery Bounty tournament from PokerStars is in the books. At the end of late registration last night, the $109 tournament attracted 11,612 unique players and 4622 re-entries. It easily surpassed its $1 million guarantee, amassing a prize pool of $1.6 million.
Last month, PokerStars revealed that the Mystery Bounty format would debut as a Sunday Million as part of its ongoing New Year Series following a successful trial.
The operator retained the $109 entry fee, its usual $1 million guarantee, and incorporated multiple re-entries and a 2-day structure. It needed the usual 10,000 entrants to achieve its prize pool target — something that today is far from assured. But player reception to this debutant event was overwhelmingly positive.
It flew past its guarantee by over 62%. In fact, it the largest Sunday Million in recent times — a tournament that has been struggling to meet its guarantee under its old Progressive Knockout (PKO) format.
