For the first time ever, PokerStars will be running mystery bounty tournaments across all its North American platforms this Sunday, with three separate mystery bounty events scheduled to run at PokerStars NJ, PokerStars MI, PokerStars PA, and PokerStars ON.
The exciting new tournament format has been creeping into the US online poker markets for some time, with WSOP Online offering mystery bounty tournaments since 2023 and PokerStars previously running them in Pennsylvania and Ontario in June this year.
Now, the operator will be bringing the excitement of mystery bounties to all its North American markets. With three entry points, the new Mystery Sunday tournaments will allow all players to join the action, while a number of satellites will make entry possible at even more affordable prices.

Mystery Bounty Tournaments Added to Sunday Schedule
Sunday, August 25, will be the first time players across all PokerStars platforms in North American can enjoy the thrills of mystery bounty poker.
Running at 6:00 pm local time, three Mystery Sunday events will start simultaneously on each platform in the US (Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey):
- $20 Mystery Sunday: Mini Special – $12k Guaranteed
- $100 Mystery Sunday: Sunday Special – $75k Guaranteed
- $500 Mystery Sunday: High Roller – $40k Guaranteed
Meanwhile, players at PokerStars Ontario will get to play the same events with slightly different guarantees:
- $20 Mystery Sunday: Mini Special – $10k Guaranteed
- $100 Mystery Sunday: Sunday Special – $75k Guaranteed
- $500 Mystery Sunday: High Roller – $50k Guaranteed
For the time being, the new tournaments have only been announced for this Sunday, but are likely to become a part of the regular weekly tournament schedule on each platform, with guarantees potentially changing as player interest is made more clear.
What Is a Mystery Bounty Tournament?
If you haven’t had a chance to play mystery bounty tournaments before and the format is completely new to you, it is worth learning more about it before you jump into the action.
Building on the previous success of classic KO and progressive KO tournaments, the mystery bounty format takes the importance of bounties to a whole new level.
Each player’s buyinis split into two, with one part going towards the regular prize pool, and the other toward the mystery bounty prize pool.
Unlike regular KO tournaments, the bounties don’t start right away and knocking out players in the early stages of the event has no extra value.
Once the money bubble bursts, things change, as each elimination awards one mystery bounty to the player who made it. The exact value of each bounty, however, is left up to chance.
Once the prize pool is finalized, the possible mystery bounty values are revealed, and each bounty you collect has a chance of being any of the ones offered.
The more knockouts you make and the more bounties you collect, the higher your chances of collecting one of the biggest bounties in the event, which could be worth as much as the first-place prize.
With mystery bounty tournaments, you have a chance to win big even if you don’t make the final table, which only adds to the excitement of playing this new tournament format and makes it so popular in poker communities around the world.
Win Your Way Into Mystery Sunday Events
The newly added Mystery Bounty events will likely become some of the most attractive online tournaments in their respective markets, and PokerStars has made sure players can win their seats in the main attraction of the day, the $75k guaranteed Sunday Special, for a fraction of the price.
Mega satellites with a $10 buyin for the $100 Sunday Special are already deployed in the lobbies and can be accessed by players across the markets.
If you are looking for a chance to play in the biggest mystery bounty tournament of the week, playing the satellites and winning your way into Sunday Special could be the best way to go about decreasing your costs and increasing your ROI.
Sign up with any of the four regulated PokerStars platforms in North America and check out the satellite lobby to find your best entry point for the upcoming Sunday Mystery events.
