Joey Ingram Returns for Another 888poker Ride: Big Future Plans Joey Ingram Returns for Another 888poker Ride: Big Future Plans

After many years, Joey Ingram hopped back on the 888poker ride with Dave Tuchman, and if you happened to miss this interview, it’s one you should take a few minutes out of your day to watch.

Popular ‘Papi’ has been one of the most colorful characters in the poker world, building a large and dedicated social media following and creating his own brand largely revolving around in-depth investigations focused on some of the biggest poker controversies.

Ingram has spent recent years figuring out what comes next for him, thinking about the current poker scene, the future, and the best opportunities ahead. He discussed many of these things with Tuchman during their fun 30-minute 888poker ride.

It’s All a Big Mirage

The two spent the first few minutes remembering their first interview from years back and talking about how things have changed since then. That video is now seven years old, and if you’d like to check it out, you can find it on the 888poker YouTube channel right here.

One of the first topics Joey and Dave touched upon is how poker has evolved over the years and how Ingram’s perception of the game has changed. He explains that what he realized is that good game selection is one of the biggest skills when you’re living in Las Vegas.

Joey also emphasizes that he learned that a lot of marketing happening around poker is like a big mirage. Of course there are big winners and great moments, but the media can often paint a picture that’s not necessarily aligned with reality.

He explains that what he learned living in Vegas is that some of the best players in the game are the ones that have mastered the skill of finding investors and convincing people to back them. Those who are able to secure these deals and set them up in a favorable way are the ones that have it best.

Talking about his own game, Ingram says he’s been playing a lot of Hold’em lately, moving away from his beloved PLO. While the love for Pot Limit Omaha is still there, he came to realize that Hold’em is simply the game of choice for most, and it is the game that brings the masses to the tables. Beyond creating content with a wider appeal, becoming better at the Cadillac of Poker gives him more options as a player.

Thinking Outside of Box

Over the many years Joey has been a part of the poker world as a player and as a host of one of more popular poker podcasts, he’s met many people. In recent years, he’s been expanding and tapping into that network, looking for best investment opportunities and figuring out what comes next.

Living in Las Vegas, he says he’s come to realize that anything is possible, and one of his dreams is to own a casino one day and run things the way they are supposed to be run.

At the same time, he learned that the only way to survive and thrive in Vegas is by realizing who your friends are, and who are the people hanging around just because they see an opportunity.

Talking about live poker, Ingram explains that he really doesn’t enjoy playing in any public games and he is only interested in private games. He says that he just doesn’t want to play in a non-fun environment with players in their hoodies just focused on making as much money as possible.

In the long run, Joey has big plans to own a huge holding company with casinos and resorts, investing in other companies and people, bringing ideas to the table and helping local communities as much as possible.

The way things are right now, he thinks his future is definitely in Vegas, where the investment path is clear. Investing, though, isn’t just about money but about time, knowledge, network, and much more.
