Fans of online poker in the United States have plenty to get excited about following the recent press release from the World Poker Tour that announced a launch of a brand new sweepstakes poker site.
The new site will launch under the name ClubWPT Gold, and it will operate under the familiar sweepstakes model, offering players in most of the US a chance to legally compete at the poker table and then exchange their winnings for real money prizes.
The site will feature two modes of play — free play in Gold Coins, which cannot be redeemed for cash prizes, and Sweeps Coins, which players can only receive for free such as gifts for Gold Coin purchases and via other types of promotions, and which can be exchanged for real money prizes.

ClubWPT Gold will kick off in style during this year’s WPT World Championship in December with a massive $5,000,000 freeroll, and seats in the event will be awarded to those who preregister with the site via a variety of promotions in the weeks to come.
A New Star on the Sweepstakes Poker Sky
Sweepstakes online poker, or social poker, as it is sometimes referred to, has been present in the United States for some time now. However, up until recently, players didn’t have many options. Things have started to change this year, with a couple of new sites emerging.
And now, the World Poker Tour is ready to throw its hat into the mix. Although the company already has a presence in the sweepstakes space with its ClubWPT, this is a subscription-based site that doesn’t fully utilize the opportunities provided by the sweepstakes model.
ClubWPT Gold will change all that, offering play in Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins and the ability to redeem various prizes and cash using Sweeps Coins. Although there are no details as to what the platform will look like, it’s safe to assume it will offer ring games, tournaments, and qualifiers to live WPT events.
$5M Freeroll to Get the Ball Rolling
ClubWPT Gold will officially go live on December 13, with a $5,000,000 freeroll kicking off just a day before the start of the WPT World Championship at the Wynn in Las Vegas. The platform is expected to be fully operational in early 2025.
To secure a seat in this massive event, players will need to preregister with the site between September 24 and December 13. During this period, the operator will run various promotions and giveaways, where all members will have a chance to win a Golden Passport.
ClubWPT Gold will give away 2,000 Golden Passports over the next couple of months and while all the details are still being worked out, all winners will, at the very least, get a seat in the $5,000,000 freeroll.
The ClubWPT Gold Invitational Freeroll will guarantee $1,000,000 for the winner, while 100 players will win a seat in the $10,400 WPT World Championship taking place in Las Vegas from December 14 — 21. Since the guarantee is $5,000,000, there will be plenty of other prizes up for grabs as well.
The World Poker Tour has picked the perfect time to launch its new sweepstakes poker platform during its largest and most anticipated live event of the year. In addition to the Championship event, the full schedule will feature 60 tournaments, so there will be non-stop action for players of all shapes and sizes.
As for ClubWPT Gold and Golden Passports, more information will be revealed in the weeks to come. What we know for sure is that there is another sweepstakes poker site coming shortly backed by one of the largest brands in the industry, so, it’s fair to say that our expectations are set pretty high.
