Sheila Stimson Trimuphant in the 2024 NAPT Women's Event Sheila Stimson Trimuphant in the 2024 NAPT Women's Event

Sheila Stimson has become one of the latest owners of the coveted spade-shape trophy, having triumphed in the 2024 North American Poker Tour Women’s Event.

Stimson was the last lady standing in the 183-strong field, outlasting some serious competition on her way to the title. For her efforts, in addition to the trophy and bragging rights, she picked up $11,380 in cash and a complimentary package to the Women’s Winter Festival taking place later this month in London.

This was an important victory for Sheila. The prize money will certainly come in handy, but perhaps more importantly, it is the kind of a confidence boost that every poker player can do with every now and again to give them that much-needed push in their careers.

Ladies Show Up in Force for the NAPT

The 2024 NAPT Women’s Event featured a very affordable buy-in of $330, and it ended up attracting a very respectable field of 183 entries.

Despite the small buy-in, which allowed pretty much anyone who was interested to join the action, the tournament attracted many familiar faces. In terms of average poker strength, this was not an easy tournament to win by any stretch of the imagination.

The participants’ list included the likes of Levy Gavin, Kathy Liebert, last year’s winner Kyna England, Caitlin Comeskey, Marle Spragg, Tiffany Michelle, and many more.

Sheila Stimson is certainly no stranger to poker, as her Hendon Mob results date back to 2014, and the most recent win brings her career winnings to almost $80,000. However, she had anything but an easy path to victory.

On top of it all, she had to call in sick at work to get a day off to be able to play the final day — in hindsight, a completely justified and very reasonable decision.

Jokes aside, it was an impressive win in a tough lineup, and with a package to the Women’s Winter Festival, she’ll have an opportunity to do it all again soon and for an even bigger prize pool.

PokerStars Goes All-In Supporting Women in Poker

The Women’s Event at this year’s NAPT festival was a success in every which way, once again underlining PokerStars' commitment to strengthening the female presence in the poker world.

In less than two weeks, these efforts will continue in London, with the Women’s Winter Festival taking place at the Hippodrome Casino from November 21 — 24.

The Main Event features a buy-in of just £400 and comes with a very generous guarantee of £100,000, which means this tournament stands to attract quite a crowd.

Following on her NAPT victory, Stimson only need to worry about clearing her calendar, as the package she won includes the Main Event buy-in, return flights, accommodation, and even an entry into the closer freeroll awarding a full package to the EPT Prague.

In the meantime, the 2024 North American Poker tour continues with the Main Event in full swing and more details being revealed about the new season of the Big Game on Tour. There is plenty of action yet to come for ladies and gentlemen roaming the hallways of the Resorts World in Las Vegas alike.
