Clubs Poker, a rising sweepstakes online poker site, recently concluded its first-ever tournament series, Colossal Tournament Week, which ran from December 29 to January 5.
The series featured 40 tournaments in both Sweeps Coins (SC) and Gold Coins (GC) formats, each offering big guarantees. While Gold Coins are meant purely for entertainment, Sweeps Coins can be exchanged for real cash prizes, making them the focus of this article.
For those unfamiliar with Clubs Poker, the platform operates differently from traditional online poker rooms. It is accessible in 44 US states and offers players the ability to enjoy their favorite poker games while legally redeeming Sweeps Coins for real money prizes. Each Sweeps Coin (SC) can be redeemed for cash at a rate of $1 per SC.
Coming back to the series, the series did exceptionally well, exceeding expectations across most tournaments with minimal overlays. Offering over 40,000 SC in guaranteed prizes across 40 events, the series ultimately paid out nearly 60,000 SC and attracted more than 9,000 entries.
The Main Event of the series, Sunday Night 22 with 10,000 SC guaranteed prize money, was the star performer of the series. Needing 500 to avoid the overlay, it drew 527 entries — the largest turnout of the series, to produce a 10,540 SC prize pool.
Beyond the Main Event, the series offered a diverse lineup of tournaments catering to various player preferences. Highlights included the daily Bounty Brawl for fans of Knockout poker, the Nightly tournaments with buy-ins ranging from 0.55 to 22 SC, the Daily 7/11, and the Sunday Night 22, featuring guarantees of up to 5000 SC. Impressively, every tournament in the series attracted at least 100 entrants.
The 0.55 SC buy-in tournaments emerged as crowd favorites after the Main Event, consistently drawing over 300 participants. The 2.20 SC buy-ins and the 11 SC Daily 7/11 also performed well, each attracting more than 150 entries.
The Sunday Night 22 on the opening night was the second largest tournament of the series, in terms of the prize pool. It drew 201 players, smashing its 3000 SC guarantee to generate a total prize pool of 4020 SC.
While the series largely exceeded expectations, only five tournaments fell short of their guarantees. Among them, the most notable was the Nightly 22 on New Year’s Eve, which overlaid 360 SC after drawing 107 entries.
Colossal Tournament Week By the Numbers:
- 40 SC tournaments
- 58,781 Sweeps Coins awarded
- 9231 entrants attracted
- 10,540 SC — Main Event prize pool
- 5 MTTs overlaid
